In the new edition of Dog Fancy they are advertising a petometer ($14.99) that attaches to your dog's collar. They claim it works like a human pedometer.
It senses the body motion of the dog and counts their steps. The info is converted into distance and the calories that are burned.
Here is how to find out if your pup is pudgy. Take the BARC (Body Assessment Rating for Canines) survey. It was started by the Pfizer Animal Health. You can take the questionaire (which only takes about a minute) and then look at the results.....it will tell you whether your pet is overweight or if he/she is heading that way.
