I was curious as to the type of stitching that was used by your vet when you had your little girls spayed. Sometimes I wonder which is better and I'd be glad to hear your opinions. Kallie had double inside sutures that self-dissolved. Brandy and outside sutures that had to be removed.

Mia had both internal and external. The external ones were remove 5-7 days later. If you feel her tummy you can very slightly still feel one that hasn't dissolved totally yet. I was worried before because I always felt I was pinching her when I petted her belly. You can't see the scar either it's totally gone, she was spayed about 4 months ago.

Emma was spayed before I got her, so I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure she had some internal stitches.

LB had sutures that chromic sutures that were disolvable in the inside and nylon sutures that I removed 7 days later. You can't even see her incision line anymore.

My Jap Chin Angel had the outside that had to be removed a week later. The vet did a terrible job and she has a terrible scar. :(

I always request for the ones that are inside and dissolve. It is so much easier that way in my opinion. I don't have to worry about them chewing on sutures and there is no scarring and it seems to in general just heal a lot faster.

I so agree with you and this vet that spayed Brandy did a stinky job with outside sutures and while it is healing, it looked gross, I just hope it does not leave a scar. They really shaved a lot of her hair as well but her tummy hair is starting to grow back in, YAY!

Yes, I had internal stitches that dissolved when I had the mole removed. And Kallie had internal stitches as well and she has such a beautiful belly. But they did such a stinky job on Brandy; I hope she will have a pretty belly too.:( :(
When hubby had his kidney stone surgery, they did staples to close the cut, it was, well,......UGH!!!! Leaves a nice scar!

They used staples on you as well?????? Wow!!!! Was it a similar surgery?? They did not have the laser to break up the stones when he had his kidney stone so they had to slice him from front to back to get to the kidney. so he has a scar and then the little staple holes on each side of the slice scar. It is not a pretty sight at all but he had to have it done. It is the only time I have seen staples used.
