Well, as most of you know, we rescued Brandy and five days after bringing her home, she came down with a cough. Vet said she had a viral infection and gave her a week of antibiotics and a cough suppressant. One week later she was not any better. Back to the vet we went and he changed her antibiotics and cough meds. After a week, she was still not better, went back and they did an x-ray and found that she has a collapsing trachea but not bad enough to need surgery yet. Said the viral infection inflamed the lining of the trachea and caused her to cough and/or it could have been that the vet that did the spaying could have used too large a tube in her throat. But regardless, he put her on new meds and she is slowly but surely getting better as each day passes. It was horrible for a while as she was coughing so deep and hoarse and it was so painful to watch. Just thought I would give an update on our newest baby.:D

Carol that goodness that little Brandy is feeling better. I know you have been beside yourself with worry about her. Hopefully she will never need surgery, but if she does at least she has a wonderful mom and dad to take care of her. :hearter: :hearter:

I'm so glad to hear that Brandy is doing better Carol. Hopefully the whole family can get some much better sleep now. Poor Brandy, that had to be so miserable for her. Thanks for the update Carol!:hearter:

The first week was awful cause they had just done the exploratory surgery on her a week before so it had to hurt as deep a cough as she had and it was almost a non-stop cough. I'm just glad it is mostly behind her now and she can start to live a happy and normal life.:) :)

Brandy did not even cough one time during the night last night........it was wonderful to get a full nights rest!:asleep: :asleep: :asleep:

She is doing better and has another week of meds to go so looks like this stuff will clear up the problem at least for now. She only coughs when she starts to play, drink water or gets excited about seeing us when we come home. So that is a huge improvement. THANKS GALS!:D

Bummer........I periodically load my pics on a CD so that I can upload them to any pc. It's really quite inexpensive and a load off the mind if the pc crashes or "breaks down" and you can't retrieve them. Is that a possibility for you E????
