I read on the ASPCA site of a situation that resulted in the adoption of a sweet little dog by a very nice couple and thought I would pass it along to those of you here on MT. This couple had decided to volunteer at their local ASPCA to help with the animals housed there. They were not intending to adopt any, just help. Well they saw this sweet little dog named Jada that was rather hyper and clingy and gave it some attention. The ASPCA knew who the owners were because Jada had a microchip. They called the owners to alert them that their pup had been found and they said they decided they did not want the dog. Well, the couple were actually surprised and decided to add this little girl to their family. Once she was under their care and in their home, she settled down but still was clingy.......but it is a very happy ending to a very sad story. :)

Just thought this emphasized the need to have your pup microchipped. The owners were found through the microchip and were given the chance to get their baby back but chose not to.

Awww what a great outcome for that dog.

I agree with microchipping for exactly the same reason.

That story reminds of a time long before I got Scrappy when my neighbor rescued a Whippet that a shopkeeper had noticed right outside her shop. A driver of a car open the door at a roundabout and let the dog out. My neighbor came across the story shortly after.
He took the dog to his vet checked the microchip and contacted the owner a young girl who was away on holiday and who's boyfriend was "supposed" to be dog sitting. when she got back into town she called on my neighbor and told him to keep the dog as he was being cared for better than she could care for it.:( My neighbor said the girl practically ran down his driveway for fear he would say no! She didnt even want to visit with the dog.

It was the boyfriend who let the dog out of his car in traffic

She favored the boyfriend over her dog.........

Fortunately the dog has a loving home with my neighbor who adores him and was sort of relieved the girl did what she did but was disgusted all the same.

I am waiting for the day that dogs have rights and are not considered a throw away commodity.

Wow, that's another great story! Funny stuff (and I don't mean haha) like this happens everywhere!!! But it is so nice to hear stories that have a happy outcome!! Thanks for sharing that with us.......both my kids are microchiped!! Highly recommend it since is is really reasonable and fairly painless for them. Never know.........someday I could be very happy that I did it! :)

I know what you mean, and it is funny (as in weird) how human nature is.... a world apart and yet similiar stories occur.

Scrappy was microchipped on his first vet visit.... Better safe than sorry the Vet said and as he was reared for the first year in my office with heavy foot traffic I lived in fear of him being stolen or getting out onto the road.
