Next Tuesday we will be flying to Florida for the winter and this will be Mia's first plane ride. I'd really like to hear how your babies did/ or any advice you could give me.
I introduced her to the carrier about two weeks ago. She doesn't like it, but she doesn't put up a big fight about it either. I talked to her Vet and really thinks I should give her Acepromazine, two hours before we leave for the airport. He cut the pill in 1/4' and I'm to give her only 1/4.
He has re-assued me that calming her would be much better than the stress??
I think I may have asked this question before but I don't remember. I will "pree-chate" all of your input.

Heddy, LB had her first plane ride last weekend to N.C.
She did really well, she whined a little bit, especially when I wasn't the one holding her carrier. When her daddy held her and she saw me ahead of her she whined.
She did a little whimpering on the plane, but I opened up her zipper so she can pop her head out so I could pet her. Once the plane got started she calmed down and slept most of the way.
I didn't feed her or give her any water because that would encourage the need for her to go, we weren't allowed to take her out of her carrier in the terminal or plane, well let me rephrase that, I did give her some little treats and a sip of water on the last leg of our flight. I didn't want to give her any sedatives because I didn't want to mess with her equilibrium. And she did great without it.
We would definitely take LB on the plane again.
I think you did great introducing Mia to her crate. I didn't even do that.
I hope this helps somewhat.

Sorry I have had no experience in this area as we always drive places with our pups and have never flown with them. Sounds like you are prepared and I wish you a safe and succesfull flight to Florida with Mia's first plane ride.:)

:) Thanks everyone....I think she will be ok but I can't help worrying about it. (silly me)
I'll be on line in a few days after I get there and I'll let you know how she did.
Also...I hope to post a pic of her soon.
Hugs,
Heddy
