Well, I use the milk of magnesia mix...........but it should only be used after they have completely lost all their baby teeth and they are much older and staining is going to be an issue. The reason being is that staining in the early months is usually caused by teething and the MOM treatment is aggressive and could damage their facial hair. I also use unfiltered apple cider vinegar in their water to change the ph level of their tears. Also I am very careful as to what I feed them avoiding any red dyes or red food ingredients.

There is also Tylan which is an antibiotic and this is definitely something you do NOT want to do until they have lost ALL their baby teeth. And it is only used for a short period of time because it IS an antibiotic.

My advice is to just take it a step at a time. Many MT members have had their pups get stains while teething, only to have it clear up after they are through with the teething. No need to start worrying about staining until the time comes that you may or may not have to do anything!!! It's too early in the game to try to "fix" any staining in a young puppy.

See thats where I lucked out with Nemo he never stains and he is always so white:confused: I have no idea why I have never used a whitener on him and after his bath his is blinding white. Nemo is no way standard for a Maltese so i guess god gave me 2 other goodies in place of that:hearter:

You are soooo blessed with that little beauty:hearter:

Did he have any when he was teething? My older ones dont have it now but with Penny she has a little, i need to try to get that away before she is 6 months....with more teething to come i assume it will only get worse before it gets better & i cant have that!

I've used Angel Eyes with terrific results short term. I've found that rinsing his eye area with "Fresh Eyes" (for humans) every night and using a little corn starch to keep the area dry works wonders as well. Leo is now 1 yr. and has grown out of the tearing stage for the most part.
