Sprout Goes For Checkup Today

I am taking Sprout for his check up this morning. He is doing great. At 6am he was very vocal about wanting out of his playpen so I got up.

He is beginning to try to eat dry kibble I have broken it up in small pieces. I went to the pet store yesterday looking for a good dry puppy that had really small pieces everyone looked at me funny b/c I was trying to feel the pieces thru the bag with my fingers. LOL I am still giving him soft food and goat's milk but no more baby pudding unless he has a bad day where he isn't eating well but he has only had 1 day like that in about 1 1/2 weeks. I will let you know what the vet says.

Am so glad he seems to be doing so well. I no what you mean about trying to feel if the food is soft enough for them. I guess the pet stores should leave out wee samples for us mad mamas to try out ourselves. LOL

I do that too at the pet shop, the kibble size is important to me also:D great to hear he is doing so well.

Vet said he was pleased to see Sprout's progress he hasn't gained any weight but he has only been eating on his own for for a short while. He got his last puppy shot, the only issue today was his ears had a lot of gunk in them I must say I have not really tried to clean them due to Sprout has felt so bad and he wasn't scratching or shaking his head so I didn't think there was a problem anyway he had ear mites and an ear infection from the mites so we are are meds for that. I really felt bad but like I said he has been so sick I didn't pay much attention to his ears.

I am so happy he is doing so much better.

awww maybe thats why he was'nt eating too well! I know when my daughter gets ear ache she does'nt feel like eating:( hope he heals quickly.

Belinda please dont blame yourself. You main goal right now has been to get him to start eating and the ears were the last thing on your mind.

About feeling through the bag, well listen to this one. We buy our food at petsmart and have been known to have them open the bag for us to check the size. As a matter of fact they offered. I dont know if everyone knows but you can return the food to petsmart if the dog does not like it or do well on it. They know us well and suggested it to save us a trip. :D :D

Thanks, Becky, I don't believe he would have survived much longer if I hadn't gone to get him and taken him to the vet the same day. But, I am thrilled that he is my baby now. It is amazing how he has come around.

I just might have to get the pet store to let me open the bag next time.

Hey, I am getting forgetful more everyday.
I took Sprout in on Oct 4 from a lady that breeds malts and she herself was having some medical problems she contacted me and that this pup was very sick so I went got him & went straight to the vet he had coccidia and hookworm only weighing 13 oz and was 7 weeks old. I brought him home & started syringe feeding him he would not eat on his own and had problems with his blood sugar dropping. Now he is 11 weeks old eating on his own and starting to act like a real puppy weighing 14 oz and Sprout is now MY puppy...Yea!!!

AWWWW, he has such a cuteness about him...........so precious and so good that you were able to help him through his tough start to life! I hope he continues to progress and becomes a happy and wonderful little guy. Glad you were there for him and took the time to help him regain his strength.
