:D Well, I guess Christmas is finally on the way to Melrose Park.
Today I spent from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm taking down the Halloween decorations, cleaning up the yard, pulling all the dead flowers out of the planters, putting everything away in the back yard and unhooking the hoses.
The neighbors across the street beat everybody by putting up Christmas bells above the porch lights!!! I have my Thanksgiving decorations up. The weekend of Thanksgiving our Christmas decorations go up.
Two radio stations starting playing Christmas music 24/7 last night at 7 pm.
So, as I sit here typing this to you I'm listening to 'Silent Night' and feeling very teary eyed.
It brings back childhood memories of singing this in our school church program with the lights dimmed and singing it first in English and then in German. I remember my Mom sitting there smiling up at us and blowing us kisses. Then every child would get a bag filled with apples, oranges and nuts as we walked out of the church. We were so thrilled to get that bag. Then we'd go home and open our presents (Christmas Eve) and then go back to the Midnight Church service which was done in candle light on the ends of the pews. The only dim light was on the Pastor for his sermon. Everyone back then knew the words to the Christmas hymns.
I love Christmas music and it seems at this point in the year we really need this in our lives.
I'm so happy we are doing our Christmas Card exchange. It makes my heart happy. I can't explain it any better than that.

Love my Leo

The start of fall has always been the favorite time of the year for me because it starts off the holiday season starting with Halloween.

Cheryl, I am with you in the love of this time of the year. I too remember the time when I used to be in our school choir singing Christmas carols, exchanging gifts, going to midnight mass and the holiday dinners. It has always been a festive time of the year for me. I came from a family of 8 kids so it was always big and joyous.

Happy start of the holiday season to all!

Yes I love this time of year also but wow, it's too early for Christmas music isn't it? :D I put most of my decorations up the weekend of Thanksgiving also. But, I have several of those skinny tall artificle trees that already are decorated with tiny lights. I've been thinking of putting them up already. Maybe even today.:D

I was looking through some "older" posts and when I saw this I thought, "oh great, another person "happy" with tourists." HAHAHAHAHAHA

"SEASON" is here too, long lines, long waits for a table, further parking or no parking, shorter tempers, rude people. As much as I love walking out onto the beach on Christmas day and enjoying the salty air and sun, sometimes I don't feel it's so worth it anymore to live here and let snowbirds or tourists be rude to us that do live here year long. ALL THAT SAID!

I LOVE Fall and all the holidays that come during this time of year. I offically have enough Christmas Ornaments to decorate our neighborhood, I have been told. My Mom always made Thanksgiving and Christmas so special for us and I have tried to do the same for my children.

This is a time for love, kindness, reflection and hope. I wish everyone here all that and more.
enJOY!
Melanie

Me too Andrea! I can't deal with the stores during Holiday season. I don't have a very large family so its not too bad. Whatever I don't buy online will be gift certificates. I always have cooked Thanksgiving dinner for my family(kids & Mom) but this year we will be going to my brother's house. It feels like such a big relief. :)
