Crystals Trainning Day!

Share with us your trainning session you had today!
I saw great improvement on Cosmo not that he is bad.
I was suppose to be there for some moral support but Dueci was calling for me and while I was trying to sneak off to the other room,
I hit my forehead on crystals closet door and IT HURT!!!!

it was so painful but i ended up watching CSI:SVU!
SO IT made the pain go away!

Ok first..I have no idea what happened to Jadey. As soon as I answered the door she went to the back...keep in mind I never heard Dueci calling her.lol Just kidding with you Jadey!:)

Anyway well the training went pretty well. He is not as bad as I thought he was. This particular trainer does the click to come training. So I have to use a clicker in the beginning. She gave me a lot of great tips. First, we worked on when I call his name, he should turn his head immediately. If he turns his head, I click and give him a mini treat. The catch is that I can only call his name once. If he does not respond then I make a different noise. If he does not respond to the previous noise then I make another one. She said that it takes 200 reps for a dog to really learn something and so if I keep repeating his name over and over again and he doesn't come then he may begin to think its ok not to come when called and that the action of ignoring me when I call him is the correct action when it is not. This also applies to other things such as sit. Cosmo has never bitten me but sometimes he snaps and trainer said thats out of fear and nervousness. She said if he teeth ever touch me even if its not in a harmful way to yell really loud to get their attention. She said thats what dogs do when playing they let the other know when one is hurt. She said to yell and then completely ignore him. She also said to ignore him when he starts to bark because if I pay attention to him when he does it then he will think its ok to bark a lot. I have been practicing these things as well as a few other tips that she gave me I have been practicing but my gosh its going to be a lot of work. Like this is a never ending thing. With the sitting she told me to just watch him and wait for him to do it on his own and do not say sit and when he does sit, click the clicker and give him a treat. Eventually she said I will add the word sit and then he will sit on command.

Well this morning, he sat down randomly and so I clicked the clicker and gave him a treat. He did it again and so I clicked the clicker and gave him a treat. Well Cosmo figured out pretty fast that if he did that motion he would get a treat. So he would run in my room look at me really hard sit all of a sudden and before I could even click the clicker he would run for his treat.lol Its like he was saying ok ok ok I did something cute to gimme gimme gimme that treat.lol

I will keep you guys updated on how everything goes. Its pretty fun and I am determined to have a trained dog:)

Well, you sounded really excited about the first lesson. You going to get a couple more from her??? I told ya Cosmo was smart! I am so glad the session went well and you got at least something for your money..........RESULTS!!! So it was money well spent!!:D
