Well i spoke to the breeder tonight, was expecting some news about the births:( 2 girls were due the first week in January but they both had false pregnancies:( :( :( :( Her next one is not due in season for another two months, so i have another long wait ahead of me. The plus side is she has asked me to meet up with her next month at a show.

Sorry to hear about the false pregn. Hopefully your next time around will be the right one. Does it matter if you get a boy or girl?

I have just minutes ago sent off an email for an update from my "preferred" breeder.

Been there Elaine. Though not false pregnancies just 2 litters of boys that the breeder (different one) tried to talk me into and hubby did too (remember he wants to call one Scooter) but , my heart is set on a girl.

I have been waiting nearly 2 yrs :( My breeder is breeding 2 girls as she is wanting a girl to show. She only breeds when she wants another dog to show. She is no where near prolific.

I didn't know you were wanting another, are you wanting to show? I would love that and have friends who do but I just don't have the time... way too much going on here with the renovation and hubby's busy life.

I see these people getting puppies in the States on what seems like a moments notice but good breeders here in Oz are few and far between.

I had no Idea you were looking at getting a FORTH, wow lucky you. I don't think I could handle 4 coats, lol.

Not to worry, hopefully you will be in luck with the next litter, enjoy the dog show and tell us all about it.

MAJOR BUMMER , you would love another little girl . Princess Charlotte thinks the boys are rough , but she will play with her baby sister for hours . Bren you need to widen your search , I went to the Royal Melbourne Show and there were LOTS of BEAUTIFUL dogs from fabulous breeders . I saw some maltese TO DIE FOR , there are some litters on Dogz online at the moment . Sarah

My preferred breeder has a couple of breeders she will refer me too if she doesn't have a girl for me.

While on there did you notice the Maltese didn't make the top 50 which I think is a good thing as the backyard industry in Malts will dry up.

Yes girls, i have been looking for a few months now. I thought you all knew:confused: The last litter that i waited on did not have any girls only 2 boys born & now this, she this this is the first time in 40 years breeding that this has happened to her.

I'm not in any hurry but you know how you get excited when you know a litter is due & you think to yourself this could be it:D

i started looking for a girl about a year ago. not truly actively, but i was very interested in a few breeders. i had 3 on my list.

i've had an ongoing relationship with a breeder, one that i am honored to say is now my friend. she is very kind and very informative. i was extremely pleased that she took the time to speak to me in the depth she did. she had a litter with one girl and i was able to watch the baby girl grow for the first few days. i was ecstatic. she was all i could think about for days!! unfortunately, all of a sudden she took a turn for the worst and didn't recover. i was heartbroken. the breeder offered me another girl that was already spoken for. i was given precedence, but i felt that was an imposition. i wouldn't want to take that little girl as she belonged to someone else.
i had just seen pictures of her, and she is GORGEOUS by the way!!

about a week later, one of the other breeders that was on my list had a little girl available. she was older (12 weeks) and when i saw her, i knew i had to have her. things went extremely smoothly, i had her within days. and my heart and hands have been full ever since.

your little girl will find her way to you, elaine. :hug:

I feel your pain Elaine as we just do not have the pool of breeders to choose from as those in the US do.
