With the holdiay season fast approaching, just a reminder about a couple of things that can cause serious problems...

Holly and Mistletoe.....serious diarrhea and upset tummy
mistletoe may cause cardio problems

Poinsettias and Lillies.....upset tummy
poinsettia can irritate the mouth and can be poisonous

Holiday tree....keep pet away from the water. It can have fertilizers in it...
can upset the tummy. If the water has been sitting awhile it can
have potentially harmful bacteria.

Pine needles.....pierce the stomach or intestines.

Garland and tinsel.....can cause major obstruction in the intestines.

Chocolate and all human foods.....keep out of pets reach. Remind your
guests that these are off limits to pets.

Use pet friendly salt for ice removal. Most pet store have it. If they do walk on regular salt make sure you wipe their paws off immediately when entering the house.

Hope these help out and please add more that come to mind.

Also beware of children's toys. I just read where a shih tzu died from swallowing some of the "aqua dots" that had been recalled. She had week old pups and they didn't realize what happened until it came out on TV that they were laced with the date rape drug. Then the owner recalled taking some of them away from her dog.:(

Also all those new electric devices with those soft chewy cords and plugs. As Rachel Ray says, "Yum OH.":hearter:

Thanks for the tips.

We have been using salt for weeks up here and I never thought about how it could end up on her paws and then in her tummy.

Thanks

Also check the treats that you get for your pets. I usually get those 'christmas pup raw hide cards' that have cute designs on them. The whole is digestable. and I saw them yesterday in the store. I looked where they are manuf. and it said China. Right back on the shelf with those.

I know where you are coming from Cheryl.............since the "China" scare, I always look on the back of any products now to see where it is being made. Does the USA make anything anymore??

I only give Nemo Wellness bone treats, I have to be careful what I give him cause he gets the runs so easily:D
