I know what you are thinking, a fireplace in Florida?????  But I love fireplaces (the fire, crackling, warmth) and so for our anniversary, Hubby is getting me my fireplace.........I AM SO EXCITED!!!!! And it is a lot less work than the "wood" burning fireplaces because there is no clean up; it has gel cans of fuel that burn behind the logs out of sight..........so I just won't have the smell of wood burning.....oh well, can't have everything unless I had tons of money to have a real one built. I'm getting stocked up with marshmellows! YAY :)

Congratulations Carol. D
I love a fireplace - apart from the romance, it's a much better focal point in a room than a TV.
We bought this house for the fireplace :hearter: - It's about 100 years old and real stone. It used to have a "real" fire too but it had to be converted to artificial flame because of the anti-smoke laws in London.:(

OH my gosh, I love our fireplace and can't imagine burning anything other then wood in it. I LOVE the smell!
I will try to get a photo of it when we first burn this season. It's lovely! However I don't have a Mantel to hang stocking from. THAT I would LOVE to have!
I really like the fireplace you are getting due to the mantel. GOOD for you!
enJOY!

I certainly will............I'm hoping it will be all that it advertises it to be. We got it from Sam's Club; not sure if you have any up your way or not but it was a great price. We bought the fireplace, a supply of the burning gel and a screen for the front for under $500......$50 was for shipping of the fireplace as they only sell them online.

Oh I am sure it will be. One thing I regretted about selling our cottage was I lost the 1850's fireplace surround and mantel. The main attraction of the house for me.
What a price though. Try in the thousands for something similar here.

IF I ever move, my fireplace is coming with me..........guess that is another plus to this type of fireplace.:)

Congrats!! Don't forget to post pictures of it once you get it.
We have a fire place for the first time as well. It came with the house and is a wood burning one. We just bought some really nice wood for it and cleaned it out. Now we are just waiting for a cooler day to try it out, it will probably be this weekend. But I just love fireplaces and I so excited that we have one this year. And goodness with the Christmas tree closeby and the all the decorations up and with the Christmas music playing it just looks beautiful and really gives you that homey comfy relaxed feeling. I will have to take a picture of it for you all to see. It is going to be a nice Christmas this year to be able to light up the fireplace.
I am sure you will really enjoy your new fireplace, you will love it!!
