Has anyone used the CC Mystic Ear Cleaner. Macy has one ear that gets dirtier that the other and nothing helps I will clean it every day or so it seems to get more of the long ear hair down in the canal than the other ear. I saw this an wondered if it would help.

I have a question.
How often do you clean your pups ears? And most of you use what product?
The only thing I have heard about Maltese ears is that they are "dropped eared" which means you have to be careful not to get them wet when bathing them (some even recommend putting cotton in their ears). Oh, and also you should pull hair out of the ear canal (using a powder).
I have always checked zo zo's ears, but they aren't red, don't smell bad, aren't dirty looking, etc. Should I be cleaning them on a regular basis too?
Thanks

People I know clean them every time they bathe them, but Nemo wont let me touch his ears :( so i go every month and get them cleaned it's like 10 bucks.
I dont touch his ears at all so im not sure if my groomer plucks them Ill ask her though:D

I've heard that putting cotton in their ears is bad because the cotton gets wet and traps the water down there.
I usually clean my furr butt's ears out every few weeks or so. They don't seem to need it more than that.
Yep, you can pluck the hair out of the ear. Sometimes having too much hair in the ear can cause bacteria and other ishy things to be stuck in the ear and cause infections. I use a hemostat that is made for the purpose and use a powder too. The powder is also good for helping to dry out the ears after cleaning or a bath. Just do a few strands at a time or it hurts them. :)
I just ordered #1 All Systems Ear So Fresh cause it is made mostly of natural ingredients. It sounded like a good product.

Cool! Thanks for all the great info. I took Zoe in for grooming yesterday and asked about her ears and the basic answer I got was that she checks them, but leaves them alone unless they need to be plucked or cleaned and so far (this was only her second grooming) she did not need it. I would like to have something her for me to use when needed. I will also get some ear powder too.

Ok, so I'm getting back to this thread a little late...
I got some Ear So Fresh from #1 All Systems.
Ingredients: Base of Witch Hazel with full strength herb oils and extracts ~
Chamomile Extract
Sage Oil
Clove Oil
Hore Hound Extract
Southern Wood Extract
Marigold Extract
Penny Royal Oil
St. John's Wort Oil
I really like it. You wipe the excess and the rest evaporates. It is supposed to reduce ear wax build up.
I would definitely recommend it!:)

Carol, your dogs would NOT have "ishy" things in their ears.... they are way too high above "ishy!"
