Wasn't sure where to post this because it involves Tucker, our lab.

He just randomly pees while walking around and doesn't ask to go out.:dizzy: I always catch him in the act (watch him like a hawk), say NO and let him out. Steve has tried to do some research on this and hasn't really found anything that he thinks pertains to the situation. I was also hoping that with the meds he's been on for his recent infection would help if there was a urinary tract problem. But NO. The vet said we have to collect a urine sample...if someone could let me know how to do that!?:lol2:

I feel that a good alternative at this point would be bell training him to let us know when he has to go. Any thoughts?

I don't think it's submissive peeing, if you were yelling at him or appearing threatening and he did it then I would say yes, but to just be randomly peeing no thats not submissive:( I would say something else for sure is going on, Im sorry I dont know what:D did ya think I would:lol2: :lol2:

Maybe it has something to do with him wanting to establish he is the alpha male over Leo ? Kind of marking his own territory....

Hmm not sure what else it could be....

Yeah good luck trying for that sample !

I just don't know what to call it! maybe dumb dog pee syndrome?:lol2: i don't even yell at him. So frustrating.

Well we all know Leo is the BOSS but you'd think Tucker would "mark" like a normal dog:blush:  Thanks for your support in the "sample" department :lol2: :lol2:

Honestly,, I would let the vet take the sample him/herself because there's less room for contamination...

Just set a cup out and say "Tucker, my man, pee in the cup!" JK

I know for Brandy it was a matter of marking when we first got her........once she realized the whole house was hers too, she stopped.

I did just purchase the bells for the back door and while Brandy uses them to let me know, Kallie comes and begs and Toby comes and barks.

Did this just start out of the blue recently???? And it could be the meds are causing the issue???? I know with the meds Brandy was on when we first adopted her the vet was very specific and told me to be sure to tell the hubby that the meds will make Brandy have to pee A LOT!!! And sure enough, we were taking her out hourly to pee. Now that she is off the meds, she can hold it for as long as any of the other two. So check out the possibility the meds may be causing the issue.

:lol2: :lol2: :lol2: you kill me:lol2:

This has been going on since we got him which was expected then but not after all this time. He should be 99.9% housebroken by now IMO. I will check on the meds tho.

Well, you really have to watch him 24/7 if you hope to get him 100% housetrained.............I know who has the time to do that!:( But it is not 365 days, just until he is 100% trained. The only other recourse is the belly bands..........never used them but know it has helped some with the pee issue.

We use the bell system with Jack. He just won't bark to let us know he has to go out.
I had to get a sample of pee from Jack a while back and let me tell you, it was not easy. He kept his eye on me as he was ready to go and when I'd try to get the cup under him he'd run. Finally, he had to go and I got it fast.
Good luck.

Well, why didn't you just say, I would have sent Miss Kallie over and he would have stood in his tracks as she cuddled up to him. He would have been so relaxed, the sample would have come with ease.:lol2: :lol2: :lol2:
