Well, I just finished clipping 50 toe nails.................I was really surprised how "good" Brandy was letting me clip them. I figured she would have a fit but she was sooooooo good! Toby is little enough to hold securely to clip his but he sure does not like it and I don't really like doing his because they are ALL black toenails. Now Kallie is my fighter even though I have been doing her since we've had her and never once cut her to the quick. But I insisted and she finally caved and let me clip them. She is the only one of the three that had the dew claws. I need a nap now.:lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:
I see another poll in the making!:D :D

I hear ya, they do the same if I don't scoop them up quickly!!!! I wonder why they do that???
Do all of yours have the dewclaws??? Let's see six x 16 (no dewclaws) equals 96 clips...............and (with dewclaws) six x 18 equals 108 snips.
  .............full time job you have!!!!

All of mine have dew claws, J n J do not need done that often though as they get walked outside more than the others....this eases the clipping just a tad though! The baths are the hardest part:p
Maybe we should market dog nail clippings as a treat:lol2:

Yes you would need a nap after that. Even with me doing dog grooming, nail clipping isn't something I have tried yet, just don't want to make them bleed. I leave that up to my boss / friend, lol

I grew up with horses and the dogs loved to chew on the hoove clippings from the horses. I was always told it was the protein in the hoof maybe it is the same thing in the toe nails and that is why they pick them up and eat them.

I trim my malts nails but boy it isn't easy. They hate it. But I just got a grooming table this week. So hopefully it will be a little easier.

I think it's great you have a grooming table.............I'm thinking myself of getting one too. I have been using a small table but don't feel like I have enough room.....I'm constantly picking up things when they roll off the table.:lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Robin you will love your grooming table, it is the best piece of grooming equipment that i have bought! Mine seem to calm down as soon as they go on it, as soon as the noose goes on they just chill out.

Well I have never tasted them so I'm not to sure--I try hard not to chew on other species nails:lol2: :lol2: and I couldn't reach my toenails even if I wanted too.:p So I just chew my fingernails.
Actually horses hooves aren't as tough as you think that is why they are shod. To protect them from the hard surfaces we require that they walk on. You can trim a horses hooves to short and cause them problems with their walking as well as it hurts if they are shod to short. It also helps to have shoes on their feet when they want to kick one of Andrea's roosters.:awink:

My nerves were shattered after doing Toby's dark nails so I did curl up with the kids on the floor and took a short siesta!!!! When we had a cat, I did the cat's as well and she was better than any dog I have ever had for letting me cut the nails and you would think it would be the other way around.:lol2: :lol2:
