Just curious how many of our MT members have a cat/cats as well as their fluffbutts. I use to have a cat several years back but had to put her down due to brain cancer. But hubby has allergies and had to take shots while she was with us. So no more cats for us! She was 18 1/2 pounds but such sweetness.:hearter: :hearter: :(

No cats here. Though I do like them. But, personally, I'm a dog person.:)

Actually we are dog persons too but we found this little kitten abandoned in a water drain and I honestly did not expect her to live in the condition we found her........so we took her home and we had the privilege of having her in our lives for 3 1/2 years. Not long enough.:( :( But with the allergies, we chose not to have cats again. I am trying to find a pic of her to post.

I had a few cats growing up, but I am such a dog person.
Last time I was tested for allergies, I react to cats. When I go to the home of someone who has one, I take allergy medication before getting there and I am fine.
I love kittens. I think they are so cute.

teh only reason I think I would get a cat is if I was having a mouse problem.
But then again I guess I already got 3 mouse/rat catchers.

The only time I had cats was when I was a child. We had Mother Cat and her son Jerry. Mother Cat stayed in the house but that rouge Jerry would go out every night and sometimes not come home for days:lol2:
When my older sister got a jet black rabbit, Jerry cat thought it was an easy prey. Well, he learned real fast after that darn rabbit actually beat him up!!!!
My sister came home with this rabbit that was bigger than the cat. It had scares on its ears, it was a 'fighter' rabbit. I think she 'took' it to save it from that horrible life. Jerry cat went after it and the rabbit sat up on its hind legs and let him have it. He ran away so fast, I think he was gone for one whole week:lol2: :lol2: He never went near that rabbit again.

Well while I am a dog person, I grew up with cats so to have a home without a cat would just make it feel empty. So I will probably always have one cat and of course a couple dogs in my life.
I must mention I am highly allergic to cats. Well was. I was on allergy shots for several years and had to take allergy medicine daily. But thanks to the allergy shots I am no longer allergic with only having a flair up on an occasion. I no longer have to get allergy shots or take allergy medicine.
So, I have 3 cats.
All females, Skittles, Peaches and Oreo. All of them are spayed and have their nails intact (I don't believe in de-clawing). And all are strictly indoor cats. They are allowed to go out in the screened in porch (which they LOVE) but that is about it.
Skittles is a long haired grey tabby. I rescued her from a pet store. She was in horrible condition. She had fleas, worms, ear mites, was very skinny and was loosing hair. I took her in and nursed her back to health. She is super affectionate, she loves people, she will sit on your lap all day if you let her. But she isn't very dog friendly which has caused some problems in the past. She is 10 pounds so she is bigger than most of the dogs here.
Peaches. My friend gave me Peaches as a Christmas present a couple years ago. She is a long haired orange tabby and has the most character out of all of them. She loves people and she loves dogs. She often thinks she is a dog. She lays with them, plays with them and washes them. It is so funny watch her chase the dogs and vice versa, she just loves it. She has an obsession with bags, any bags, plastic paper. She is always crawling in them and running off with them. She is about 12 pounds. She just has an all around great personality. Oh and one big plus, she loves killing bugs so our house stays bug free!!:D
Oreo is believed to be a Scottish Fold mix. We aren't really sure but she does have the folded ears. No she isn't mean, her ears are naturally floppy, lol.:p I got her from my neighbor whose stray cat had kittens.
She has a quiet personality and is my cat only. She is very shy around people but loves being around me. I took her in when she was 5 weeks old and bottle fed her. If I didn't take her in at that age she would have been wild by the time she was ready as her brothers and sisters now are. She is a real sweetheart and tolerates the dogs. If they get too rough with her she will simply go to her tree house, she has never once raised a paw at them. Once she gets to know you she is friendly but it is only with very close family members whom she is use to. But I am glad she is with us and I wouldn't change a thing about her.
She is only about 7 pounds so she is pretty small atleast compared to the other two.
So here are some pictures of my kitties.
First picture is Skittles.
Second and third picture is Peaches.
Fourth and fifth picture is Oreo.

9055Well, the poll is closed, so I hope it's okay if I answer anyway!
I never had a cat until Mr. Fun Kitty found me. He moved in a few years ago, and we've never looked back.9056

LOL, they do have a way of choosing their homes...but we're glad he found us. Of course, as more dogs move in, we keep expecting him to consider escape. :)

My daughters female hasn't been fixed yet and it seems every other week she makes that sound and puts her back end up and loves my son I mean adores my son but only during that week!!!  She is driving me crazy! She has sort of made friends with the fluffs.

Ummm, I don't know if cats can pretend to be in heat.:lol2: :lol2:
That does sound kind of normal for an unspayed cat. Are you planning on getting her fixed?
You could always sneak her over to Carol's and leave her in the yard. We all know Carol will take her in.:)

Very Funny.........you know I might have at one time. But now with Bob's allergies to "CATS" I would never impose on him to take the shots again. He took shots for over four years when we "FOUND" our last little kitten abandoned and brought her home. But never again! Love cats but love the hubby more!:hearter: :hearter: :hearter: 9134

Well, I didn't get in on the poll either but I do have a cat.
Her name is Maggie and she is on a diet. :) She HAS lost weight.
For some reason the manage attachments thingy won't let me do anything now so I can't post her pic.:(
I do know that once she is gone, I won't have another cat. The dogs chase her too much and that can't be too fun for her.

The girls may do well with a cat, but Toby would pursue it until he caught it and who knows what he would do with it! After all the Yorkshire terrier is known for being rat catchers.
Teri, try posting a picture of Maggie in the Brothers and Sisters section.

I tried posting pics from a cd and I can't get it to work, so forget it! I'm too frustrated. Anyway she is just an orange tabby. :)

Squeaker is my old kitty. I've had her since I was 4 so she is now heading on 17 years old! She is a DSH and it completely white on one side and has black spots on her head/ears and on her other side. Her tail is also black. We brought her home from a shelter when we lived in Germany when she was about 6 weeks old.
Mojo is the other cat. He's only a little under a year old and is an awesome baby. He's a cuddle bug and loves being held like a baby or he perches on your shoulder. He's also from a rescue and is a DSH tuxedo kitty.

The very first pet I recall in our home when I was very young was a cat. A big calico cat named Rebel. We then had a big grey cat named General. :) I can't imagine my life without a cat, really. Although there have been times in my life I didn't have a cat and I always felt I was missing something. I am a ONE cat to my household now though. I some how always seem to have very bossy cats and they just do not enjoy other cats trying to move in on the action.
We had Paprika for years before getting the doggies... so when we first got Sir Micro, Paprika was just so mad at us. Now, a few years have passed and Paprika "allows" Mr Wookie to sleep near him. :lol2: Sir Micro and Glory Girl chase Pappy if he gets between me and them on the floor. I know the doggies think "wow that animal flies." :wink5: My poor Pappy is aging and I am not at all looking forward to the day he will not be with us.
Back in 1999 when I was the car accident and injuried so bad, just laying around, Paprika never left my side. I was so amazed at his commentment to me. He's been a GREAT cat!
Here are my "ying and yang"... they both are so funny.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Tuxedo Cats. I had one, Bean and he was the BEST cat I ever had. Such a lover and so huge! Thank you for sharing your cats with us.
