I had never seen a King Charles Cavalier (I hope I spelling it right) until this summer, but I think they are really cute. I would have to research it more, but I like their faces and coats.

Marco really really wanted a Border Collie and I asked if he when he was taking up jogging:lol2: :lol2: He also really likes schanuezers (spelling) and labs, but we have to be careful what kind of dog we pick because I have allergies.

I picked the Yorkie, Shih Tzu, Havanese and other. The other would be a Coton de Tulear, Westies or Lhasa Apso. I love the little breeds. But I love the big ones too, like the GS, Labs, Goldens and Great Danes. Good poll!:thumb2:

Laurie, I have read about the Coton de Tulear in the Dog Fancy magazine. They look so much like the Maltese.
I checked Maltese only because of my experience with my 1st Max and now Jack. I know I should be open to other breeds, we did have a cockapoo and a dobbie. I can't stand the hair thing.

When I started searching for my next baby, I looked at Cotons. OMG, they are so beautiful. But, they are so rare here. Very $$$. But I love them!

Of course, we all know I'd have a yorkie since I have two of them but I also love Havanese and German Shepards.

Off of the list, I'd get a Cavelier King Charles, Papillion, Morkie, MALTESE, lab, Golden Retriever, Shar pei (in memory of my baby, RIP Spicey), GREY HOUND (I looove them), Great Dane (probably the closest thing I'll ever have to owning a horse), Bernese Mountain Dog... oh heck why don't I just say ALL OF THEM!

Westie - got one. Maltese - got one. Cavalier KC Spaniel - had two. Rough Collie and Great Dane - two of the best I ever had. Would love to meet - any little mutt that needs a good home :D

I just had a "yorkie" fix this past weekend and he was sooooooooo cute.:hearter: So I picked a Yorkie. Labs have always been my favorite tho (besides maltese of course).

I voted the other day but did not reply because I had a puppy cry.

Anyway If I did not love and adore a Maltese my next dog would be a Jap. Chin. I love my Angel Dog which is a Chin and would love to have more like her. The only thing is that she sheds and has breathing problems in the south so that in itself besides knowing I would never be able to keep up with everything concerning the breed along with the Maltese is what has kept me from checking further into showing/breeding them. (Although their coats would be sooooo much easier to maintain.) She is a rescue that came to me through the law (product of a drug bust) and I am glad that I got to experience this breed.

When I got her she was a mere two weeks old and I carried her around between my breast. As she grew older I noticed that she loved to jump and climb. She did not bark until after her first birthday. I was so afraid that she had been debarked and I cried and rejoiced when she found her voice. I did not know a thing about the breed but after checking into them this is their nature. They are the closest thing to a cat in a dog there is. Funny before I knew that I called her my cat-dog.....LOLOL I dont like cats because of the peering and kneading so I am getting what I like in a cat in a dog.


Anyway Mrs Maggie my answer to you poll is if I could not have Maltese in my life I would have Jap. Chins. They are my other love..

You know.. I've always wanted a big dog but chose to go with a Maltese instead because well.. I love them.. and I don't have the time to exercise a giant dog, but if I didn't have Stanley, I'd love to have a doberman or a great dane. :)

I know this is an old poll! But if I couldn't get a Maltese, then it would have to be another Sheltland Sheepdog. But, in all reality if you are owned by a Sheltie, you would know one of those hyper munchins is pleanty! Since Macie is almost 3, she has calmed down a lot, when she is with me. When she is with her kids. Now that is a different story! She loves to play with them and she knows when its time for them to come home from school. She will beat me out the door to get in the van to go get her kids from school! LOL

If I couldn't have a Maltese, my second choice would be a Yorkie or a Pomeranian. I really likes Westies too but they get a little too big for me!

I have had a Sheltie. My heart dog!!! She helped me out thru the worst time in my life. Could easily get another.

Have had a few Danes. Love those regal creatures! Has to be the smartest breed out there.. in my opinion.

Wanted a Havanese because of the different color combinations. But then I saw a picture of Vincent and he came home with me!

Still might get a Havanese someday.. because its the closest thing to a black Maltese out there! :)

I think I would probably go to the shelters and see what they have. Prior to my maltese, I primarily had large dogs. I have seen some cute ones such as the Biewers and mixes, but haven't thought about owning another one.
