Has anyone tried this? It is suppose to get rid of stains, do you really think it works? What is your experience with it?

I have never used a whitening shampoo before but Cookie has some staining that I would like to see if the White on White would get rid of.
I know you are only suppose to use it on a monthly basis because it will dry out the coat.
So does it really seem to make them whiter? Is it worth purchasing?

I have never tried it because I was told not to use whitening products on a dog until they were a year old, but I have used CC products and like them very much.

I know other MTers use a MOM solution for stains, but I am afraid I don't know how to make that either (I think it is Milk of Magnesia and something else, but maybe someone who has used it can say). Good luck!

Thanks for replying and for the suggestion!!

I don't have any problems with tear staining, it is the coat that is slightly faded or yellowed.
There are testimonials on their site about the White on White, but I just thought I would ask here to see if anyone has uses it.
I have always heard of such great things about CC products.

No problem. Glad to help out when I can. :D

I use the Ice on Ice on Zo zo (at Carol's suggestion) and it smells great and works wonderfully.

Maybe someone else can tell you about white on white.

BTW Trixie is so pretty and I love her name. Cookie too

Tracey,
I have used the ice on ice with the girls for their daily brush out and it is a good product. But I also use "cowboy magic/water mixed together for their daily brush out as well. Both products have a lovely smell and work fine on their coats. Of course the cowboy magic is cheaper since I dilute it with water. I have used the CC white on white as well, and don't think it does anything "spectacular" that would sway me to use their whitening product over another. I have also used Bless the Beast whitening and it seems a bit more gentle to the hair. I have also use the tearless whitening from Bio-groom for around their face (once a month) and it seem to help somewhat to maintain the white face. I have been using the whitener on Brandy at least once a month (we've had her four months now) as her coat was very unkept and yellow when we adopted her. I have seen a difference in her coat but I alternated with the three whitening products.........so really don't know which one is better to be honest. So I do think the "whitening" products help with dingy, yellow coats but overuse with them also damages the quality of the coat. So I always...............ALWAYS.............use a conditioner after every bath that I let set for at least one minute. Then rinse and then use the "coat handler" leave-in conditioner which I will say, I LOVE!!! Coat Handler also has a whitener product and I have used it as well. I just can't put my finger on "ONE" product and say...........it is the miracle product for a "white" maltese.

I do also use the MOM on their faces to rid them of the initial stains but care has to be used with this mixture. It is very damaging to the hair if overused and the hair must must be treated extensively with conditioners. JMO

What is the mixture for use of MOM..for stains is it pure white proxicide.
I read some where to use this and woolite..
I do know I have bought all the products in the stores and it does not get rid of Maggies stains..

Hi there! Here is the mix you are requesting for, but I think I read that this should only be used for tear staining. I don't know about the use for the whole body.

Mix equal volumes of Milk of Magnesia and peroxide(10 volume/3%), then use corn starch to make a good paste. Apply and work well into the stained area and let dry overnight. Wash out and condition well. Do this for several days until stain is gone, skipping a day or two between applications if possible.

The woolite treatment is a mixture of equal amounts of shampoo, water, woolite and then I add some conditoner and shake well. BUT this is only for removing stains on the feet, not the face or body. It has to set for about five minutes and it does clear up the staining on the feet. I only do this once a month ONLY on the feet.

The MOM treatment is for spot stains not for an all over the body treatment as it can be very damaging to the hair especially if used too often.

I have used the MOM treatment which is a combination of milk of magenisum/peroxide for human hair/conditioner/corn starch in equal amounts made into a paste and then applied to the stains. This can be done at night and then should be washed out first thing in the morning and a conditioner used on the hair. I would not do it more than twice a week. It is a long process as using it too often will dry the hair or damage it and it will break off or become very coarse. It is extremely important not to get any of the paste in the eyes as serious damage can occur. Better to use it less often and be patient to get results than to over do it and have damaged hair.

Another suggestion is to add a little unfiltered apple cider vinegar to his water which will change the PH level of the eye tears. I use 1/2 teaspoon to a 1/2 gallon of water. They may not like it at first but they will drink it when they get thirsty. I have been giving mine this for over a year now and they drink it with no problem. Even my new malt, Brandy, took to drinking it with no problem.

Always clean the are daily around the eyes. IT is not a once a week clean but an every day cleaning. JMO

As far as a whitening shampoo for the whole body, I use the Coat Handler product and it works great on my babies but again, I only used it once a month until they were nice and white and then only use it when needed. I just purchased at a show in Brooksville, some nice Coat Handler shampoo that left Kallie soft and squeaky clean. But I also ALWAYS follow every bath with Coat Handler leave-in conditioner. I have also used the bio-groom tearless whitener around the muzzle and eyes and it does a good job as well. Today I used the White on White CC product that I received as a sample and it is a nice product but can't say it is any better than any of the other whitener products. Hope this has helped and not confused you! :)

Jadey, does that work really well? Do you use it every time you bathe them?
I've started using Biolage by Matrix on LB and OMGosh! She's sooo soft and clean!

Yes, I have tried and continue to use the BioGroom Tearless Whitening Shampoo on Kallie and Brandy's faces followed by a lot of conditioner..........but never over the entire body. I have not had to use a whitener on Kallie now for several months. Just used the coat handler "Sensational Shampoo ready to use" on Kallie yesterday that I purchased at the last dog show and I love it. It left Kallie soft and white. I will continue to use a whitener product on Brandy once a month followed by a lot of conditioner until her coat is white. But I will always have the BioGroom Tearless Whitening Shampoo in my reserve of products for around their faces. It is gentle and love it because it is tearless.

My honest opinion of the white on white is....blah!!! BUT i will admit that my dog was white to start with & she did not have any stains, i just thought that maybe she would be dazzling bright white after it but i did'nt see a difference!

I don't like the white on white either. It didn't do anything that any other shampoo would do. I have a cupboard FILLED with shampoos and conditioners. Seriously, at least 20 bottles. :D

I had black on black for my mini schnauzer when I had her and it didn't do anything for her, either. In my quest for the perfect hair products, CC is down farther on the list. The Ice on Ice is ok, though.

OK well this all was very interested reading.

I can add that White On White did remove the minor staining that Glory had on her paws, BUT in saying that, I had not tried another whitening shampoo on her since that worked for us.

I can tell you thought that I can't use White On White on Wookie, it makes him sick.

OHH the curse of all Maltese lovers and caretakers, correcting stains.
