Top 10 Dogs

Below is the list released by the American Kennel Club as to the top 10 dogs. The top 10 dogs are chosen by the number of dogs registered with AKC.They list them in this order by the number of "registered" dogs with the AKC.

Personally, I think it does not take into account the dog owners who do not register their dogs (pedigreed). Kallie and Toby are both pedigreed and could be registered with the AKC but I have chosen not to. JMO

#1 Labrador Retriever (come in black, chocolate and yellow)
#2 Yorkshire Terrier
#3 German Shepherd
#4 Golden Retriever
#5 Beagle
#6 Boxer
#7 Dachsund
#8 Poodle
#9 Shih Tzu
#10 Bull Dog (first time in 75 years that the Bull Dog has made the top10)

Wow thats interesting. I cant beleive that the Maltese isnt on there, I just seem to know so many Americans with a Malt. LOL

to be honest... I'm glad its not on the top 10.


I hardly see maltese around my neighborhood.
I feel blessed for owning one:D

But think about this H........ how many of the Americans that you know have their maltese registered with the Amercian Kennel Club????? That is how they gauge what breed is in the top 10. As I said in my first post, neither of my maltese are registered with the AKC. Sounds like a poll is in need!:D :D :D

I have 2 in the top 10 . My parents bred pedigree champion beagles - I've NEVER wanted to own one . Sarah:)

I never like that list. I agree with Carol. It doesn't take into account all the wonderful rescue dogs out there.
