Okay a lot has been said about the use of Tylan for stains and I do use it! My husbands doctor told him that antibiotics kill bad and good bacteria in the body when taken over a period of time (he was on antibiotics for three months straight) ..........she recommended that he eat live active culture and suggested ACTIVIA.........so I was wondering what you guys thought about the Tylan killing bad/good bacteria in our babies and whether it would be good to give them the Activia while giving them the Tylan??? I personally don't know, but thought I would go ahead and give them some while they are on the Tylan, they love the peach......stayed away from the strawberry cause of the red but it probably wouldn't cause any staining...........I think I'm getting paranoid like someone else here on MT! LOL

Nope you are not the paranoid one! hee hee...........I saw where you were giving them the natural balance venison/br. rice and the duck/potato dog food...........that's what I give my kids too! They don't have allergies but I like the ingredients and they are both doing really well on it! But since I have them both on the Tylan(I give it twice a day but a very small amount in a square of cheese that's only half inch by half inch, hoping that doing it this way will not upset the tummies) for now, I have been giving them the Activia but I eat one a day too!!! Suppose to help the digestive tract!

I think the idea of a perfect white face is what leads us to try these products. I don't think i would give them antibiotics for a long period of time, what if they needed it for something more serious & i know that you get different antibiotics for different infections but i do think that their wee bodies work quite similar to ours so the Activia sounds like a good idea (yeah we get that over here:D see how proud i was to say that).

You know all these show dogs don't all have pure white faces, they are disguised on the day of the show to make them look better so why do we worry about it so much:confused:

You are so right about the showdogs Elaine (can't believe I just said that)! When we were there at the dog show yesterday, there were only six malteses entered and two had visible stains! Hubby and I were both shocked, just had the vision in our minds that a showdog would be "perfect" in every way. Some didn't even have cute faces! One was nearly perfect and had the most perfect topknots I'd every seen but had some slight staining! I drooled for along time after that! And another thing that took me back was that they all looked like Kallie did after I did the mayo treatment a while back, straight and flat! But I enjoyed watching them prance. And one other thing I noted is that they were cut so that all of them had that baboon butt look.......I was so wowed!:tongue6: :tongue6:

Misha goes into the vet next month, I'm putting her on Tylan. We have tried everything this last year, & no luck.

Sometimes it can be a never ending struggle but Carol (morkie) has some great tearstain tips:D

I think it's a great idea to get the vet to check her eyes for blocked teaducts.
