I hate to do this, but my baby will be getting boarded for spring break. Its a great place that specializes in small dogs and they are not in crates but rooms. I am just worried he will get matted while I am away. Will 7 days of not being brused cause mats? He doesn't mat easy I have skipped a day, but have only done that once. His hair is about 3inches long all over, and that is about as long as I want him, due to us loving to play outside. Just wondered if any of you have boarded for a time frame and what you did. I am sure none of you board, but I have no family and don't trust anyone to come into my home to take care of him. I feel he would get real lonely and board home alone. I am a stay at home mom, and there is lots of action here. Thanks for the input........Jill :)

I can almost gurantee that your baby will mat after seven days of no brushing. So you can either shave him down for now in a shorter cut when you board him and let his hair grow back out when you return from break. Or possibly speak with someone that will possibly be willing to brush him at least twice while he is in their care. I have never boarded my kids as I have a son that comes and stays in my home with them or I take them with us. I hope it works out for you. Some of the day care places for doggies are really great with the care they give. My son has used them.

Yea, I wish I had family or someone, but don't. I will probably get him cut down, but never shaved. When the time gets close I will have him get 2inches trimmed off everywhere, and ask the boarders to brush him out two times. I am not one to have a maltese with a long coat, so by that time, he will be due for his first groomer cut. Thanks
