Zo zo's mom

Well, I will start off by telling you that mom forgot to take Zo zo's food up this morning. And she was stubborn with down/stay today. But she did great at all the new stuff introduced today. She was even picked to play with the two big dogs rather than the little ones.

BTW- I couldn't figure out what kind dog Anakin (the German sheppard type dog) was exactly..we thought a Belgium Sheppard and he is. He is only 6 months old too and his own said he would get much bigger.

We started with the sit/down/sit-stay/down-stay as a warm up.

Then we moved to heel and the trainer said Zo zo had progressed alot since last week and she was pleased. More than half the class has trouble with "heel". Mom did heel with Zo zo because dad was frustrated because she wouldn't so down (and the more frustrated he got, the less focused she was...so momma stepped in).

Then, they did a loose leash exercise with a toy distraction. You can let you dog play with the toy only if they aren't pulling on the leash. Once the leash is taught, you take a couple of steps in the other direction. She pulled up Maui the pit bull, Anakin the Sheppard and then call up Zoe because "she could do this with the big dogs". She did great.

Then they did a variation of come. You have four treats in your hand and once you throw it, you run in the opposite direction and get the dog to "come". You repeat this 4 times and the final repetition is with a "sit". Poor Marco (good thing he had on sneakers)

The last new thing is getting the dog to sit in "finish" or "heel" position. You lure the dog around your back to your left side to sit. The FUN part with little dogs is that you have to squat and balance on the balls of your feet. :giggle:

Here are a couple of snapshots too

OH..I forgot about this one. You ask for eye contact and then hold a treat out to the side and reward the pup for maintaining eye contact.

BTW Zo zo did down and down/stay at home AFTER class

Great videos of Marco and Zo zo in action. They are both coming along with their training! It is wonderful to see how responsive she is to learning!! I so hope Toby does as well. I am so afraid he will be aggressive or distracted. There will only be eight in the class. I won't have any videos since it is during the day and hubby will be at work. But I will certainly give some updates as we go along each week!

Thanks for sharing that with us............I love watching Zo zo; she has such a happy run! :):hearter: :hearter:

Thanks Carol

I am sure Toby will be great. I told Marco the other day when he told her to say, think that she would and she could hear it in his voice. I think it works with me anyway.

Zo was a little distracted today, but she loves to "work", so she snaps out of it quickly. I like her run too:wink5:
