It's my summer holidays , so my family group decided to visit an 1850's gold mining town Yackandandah . OF COURSE we decided to take Charlotte , Henry , Teddy and Arabella as well ( MISTAKE NUMBER ONE !!! ). Teddy had not gone to the toilet before he left , so he was walked down a delightful little side street. NATURALLY , the urge to POOH was strong , but I was totally prepared to pick up the doggie doo with my trusty bag. What do you think happened next .... Teddy decided to pooh on the side of a hill ( MISTAKE NUMBER TWO !!! ). As his load was released , he toppled backwards into the steaming excrement , sitting directly on IT !!!! THE HORROR !!! One small plastic bag didn't do it , his hair is very long and it was well and truly mashed into his fur. I went into MELTDOWN mode , the trip back home was unimaginable ... 100's of miles. Then my trusty MOTHER saved the day , she went into a general store and requested the hose in his back yard ( the EMBARRASSMENT ) . Teddy had his first colonic irrigation with a high pressure hose . His yelp and eyes had to be seen , he jumped sky high . We did not linger long in this small country town , the memories were both smelly and humiliating . I will always travel with moist towelettes now , better safe than sorry !!!! Sarah.

Oh can I relate to your story:( .............but sorry it is funny! :lol2: I look back at several experiences I have had travelling with my kids and laugh, you will too!:)
With those experiences behind me, I am prepared!!! I have two containers which stay in the car at ALL times which have two bath towels, a hand towel, a gallon of water for rinsing(that's on a side holder in the trunk), treats, leashes, copies of their certificates, baby wipes, a box of rubber cloves, stainless steel dish bowls, distilled water for drinking, poopie bags for the pick-up of the poop, and last but not least a brush and of course when we take long trips I take doggie food with me too............. my experiences "trained" me to be prepared for anything!!! It is my "Doggie Emergency Road Kit.":D

Oh Sarah, I'm so sorry that your outing was not pleasant:( I could imagine the horror on your face. Poor Teddy, I can't imagine what he was feeling during his "irrigation". But, you will look on this in the future and just laugh at the situation:lol2: :sidesplit: I've been there.

Ewwwwwwwww and in our heat too
Its a wonder it didn't dry hard enough to just ummmm brush out:rolleyes:
This is good training for when you have skinkids. Always, always be prepared for all contingencies.
I am like Carole, I take bottles of water one for drinking one for washing and towels, and a little plastic bowl that is big enough for him to stand in to wash his feet, and wet ones, I take the works with me. You never know when you may need this stuff.
Scrappy gets very excited when he sees "his" bag being packed so I always leave it to the last minute otherwise I get nothing done with Scrappy constantly asking are we going yet!
