I am not sure why she does it.. But my Izzy loves to run from us when we try to get her to come. She will run around and around furniture and then down the halls to get away. Is there something that we are doing wrong? I don't understand why she would be scared of us since we have NEVER spanked or hurt her in any way. It is getting really frustrating! :(

LilyBelle does the Maltese 500 2-3 times a day:)

Maybe after all her shot series is complete you may
want to enroll her in puppy training classes?

You may also want her favorite treat when you try
to call her? I've had LB for 2 years and she still
has selective hearing when I try to call her.:D

Keep us updated!

No alot of ours do that they think it's a game. Mia which is 1 still does that. She waits until I am right in front of her and takes off running. Patience, training and time will teach her not to run.

well it makes me feel better knowing that I am not the only one... She really makes me work for it sometimes! LOL There is one little spot under my bed where she loves to run and hide.. Since I just had a baby I still have weight to loose. It is so hard for me to get my big behind down there and fish her out sometimes!

What we did with each new fluffbutt we added to the family was for hubby to sit one place and I was about 40 feet away but we were both visible to each other and we would have treats. We would both take turns calling the dog to us and rewarding with verbal, physical and food treats last. When one of us finished rewarding the dog for coming to us, the other one would call the dog by name and say come and use a hand signal. When the dog would arrive, the procedure of rewards was done. This was done several times per session and several sessions a day. It helped them learn their name (we renamed all of our dogs when we adopted) and also that reward was always waiting when they came to us. Bribary always worked with my skinkids so used it on my furkids!

Give it a go! Worked for us!:D :D

PS: Remember too, she is still just a puppy with all the energy of a pup!

Zo zo is a runner too. I had to learn not to chase her because that is what she wanted me to do. I am finding with her training, I can now use "Come" command when she starts to bolt.

I have also discovered that when she has something of ours she shouldn't (like, I don't know, socks, underwear, ear bids, etc.) I ignore her and tell her to drop it and she usually does. I also try "trade you"...like I will give you your favorite toy for my socks back.

she also runs when she has something she isn't suppose to.. It just makes me wonder why she does it because sometimes it isn't a playful running away.. It seems like she is scared of something.
