Right click on the pic, save it to your PC and then go to your control panel to the avatar, browse your pc pics and select the saved pic and upload it as your avatar.

I think you have to click on the picture for it to open in a separate window from the post, then right click and save. Don't right click and save from the post. Then try to download as your avatar.
