Why thank you Elaine, I have really tried everything and everything is working! LOL As you can see by the two year old picture, we decided to get her not on looks, but on the lovely personality that she had! She's a sweet heart! I only changed her diet and the water...........and a few mom treatments by the time I took the 3 yr old pic. Now to keep the stains away, a few mom treatments and the tylan.

Carol--I'm confused (nothing new)--you said the first pic was at 1 yr. old and sent by the owner. This pic says you picked her up at 2 yrs. old. Did it take you 1 whole year to get her?

Heavens no!!! Sorry if I confused you. We bought her at 2 years old but the only picture they had of her to show me by email at that time was the one they had taken of her at one year old! I asked them to take some additional pics of her since the picture was now a whole year old and I wanted one that was current, but they did not have a camera. We called as soon as we saw the ad and then went and picked her up the very next day!

So you got her sight unseen and not knowing about the tear stains?? That's a bumber if that's what happened. When we contacted the shelter about Jack his foster mommy told me right away about the stains and that it mostly was her fault they were so bad because she cared for so many dogs. But when you look into their eyes and see the love and hope of a forever family, well, you just look past the external flaws and fall in love with them no matter what.

Carol in the first Pic, Kallie looks like a cute little scruff, I think it is cute.
In the 2nd pic, I think she looks sad:( especially when you see pic 3 and 4 which she just looks so beautiful and happy, you can see it in her beautiful eyes.
You have made such an amazing difference to her life, Bravo

Yes, we bought her sight unseen..........it was quite the shock when we walked in and saw how badly she was stained............and never having had this breed before, I was wondering if they would ever come out. Well, they do!!! But her personality is what really grabed our hearts! She was the sweetest most well adjusted little girl, so we snatched her up and she was the perfect little angel riding home with us. There is a lot more to this story. I'll have to post another thread...........it is truly a wild story! Believe it or not!:D

Certainly the food is important and distilled water can make a tremendous difference. After Mia is old enough, you can use the Tylan which is an antibiotic and it will make a big difference.........but she should have all her secondary teeth BEFORE you start her on it. Meanwhile I can only suggest the right food (no red foods in it) and the distilled water and keeping the eye area clean. But I wouldn't do much more until she is a bit older. I just started putting unfiltered vinegar I got from the health food store into Kallie's water as a suggestion my another MTer to change th PH levels of the tears. I've tried a lot of things so I just think it to be a combo of things that have cleared her staining. But all of this is JMO.

Spring Water is good if you want minerals; the distilled water has all the minerals removed ..........it's just wet and nothing in it that can cause staining!!!!! Hubby and I also only drink distilled water as well due to him having kidney stones. He has not had an attack of kidney stones since 1987 when we went on distilled water........so we are a distilled family! LOL

I just had to reply to this. Alot of people would have turn around and walked back out that door once they saw Kallie in that state, but Carol you were the angel sent to save Kallie. You have done a remarkable job and her appearance shows it. I commend your efforts.
I had my pups on distilled water, but then put them on spring water. Scoobie hasn't had any tearing. Chyna has it slighty. But nothing to really fuss about. I wonder if I should switch back for Chyna...

Why did you switch from distilled to the spring water???? Also, I was told by another member and I have been using........a teaspoon of unfiltered apple cider vinegar to 1/2 gal. of distilled water to help with the tearing and believe it or not, it has helped my yorkie as well!!! They snub it at first but then drink it fine!

I was on another site and someone had posted that distilled water would also manage to remove the mineral intake from your body as well. Don't know if that is true or not I just didn't want to take the chance since I had just gotten Scoobie. So now that I've seen what you've done I'm about to do some research on distilled water and its affect on the body.

Carol, she is gorgeous!! She has came along way from the first pic when she was a year old!! I love the third pic, she is just so beautiful!! You are both lucky to have each other!!
All mine get distilled water as well. They also are fed Canidae, they say it is suppose to be good for tear staining. And they are also on Missing Link which they also say is suppose to help. So far there is only a slight staining, nothing bad all, more of a discoloration than staining.
What a difference!
She is now little beauty!
