Thank you Managers and Owner. I don't know what you did but it looks like I can post now. LOL

Hello everyone and thanks for the warm welcome. I got my first Maltese about 2 weeks ago. She was supposed to be about 7 weeks old. We didn't get her papers yet, she was POTL and had just gotten there the evening before. The breeder has a male and female, brother and sister, Bonnie and Clyde. Both in the 4# range. This little girl won't be any bigger than that, Clyde is her father. She has really fine bones for a Maltese. Just like her dad and aunt. We named her Misty Angel Daddy's Girl. We call her Angel and she started answering to it the first day. Well, she came. LOL

We picked up her cousin yesterday when we took her back for her shots. We are calling him Ben for now. He's solid and calm. Seems like a Ben, huh? Bonnie is his mom. Angel weighed 1 1/2# and Ben weighs 3#12ozs. The breeder said Ben is about a week older than Angel but that she doesn't think he's gonna be much over 4#. Hmmmm, 3#12ozs/4#? I think he's gonna pass that alright. Unless he's much older than she says he is but his hair isn't much longer than Angel's so I think they are close to the same age.

As my screen name indicates, I have Yorkies. I have a ton of Yorkies! I have some older puppies that haven't sold yet and I don't think they will now if people don't see them in person. I have 2 litters with ages of a month and 3 weeks. I have bred dogs off and on my whole life but I'm a different person now, a much more insightful person I hope. So I know something about breeding but not much about specific breeds.

I had planned on joining a Maltese group and get some education on how they differ from Yorkies before I got one but my hubby was asking questions of this breeder and when I saw how small she was, well, I just had to leave with her.

I'm also married, for 30 years. I have 5 children and we are raising our oldest 3 grandchildren as our own kids. They are Brian 13, Robin 10, and Sarah 9. Well enough about me for now. LOL Sylvia

Has anyone ever heard of maltese with GREEN EYES?? This is the first I've ever heard!

I'm thinking it's a baby thing and they will change to black or brown. On another site there's a lady kind of upset about it and telling me to take them back but if they are really rare, I think I'd like to keep them. I know it makes them off the standard but I like unique things. I love green eyes. I had 2 Cockers(at different times) with green eyes, one was so light he was almost white. I called him Pepe. He got parvo and died very shortly after I got him. Broke my heart and I just went out of breeding Cockers. Sylvia

:welcome: to MT. That's great you have all those pups running around. Glad to see the Maltese has stolen a piece of your heart as well. They are a loyal, loving, in your lap dog, and those eyes will melt your heart.
As for the green eyes--so what. Were you going to show that little darling in the ring? If they are your forever pets then the color of their eyes don't matter. They don't look at us and think "gee--this human doesn't fit the standard, I think I'll give them back", they just love us to pieces and fill our lives with such joy and happiness I feel like my heart is going to burst.
Well enough of that rambling on .....post lots of pictures and again welcome to the best place to talk and make lifelong friends.

It's been a long time since I had a maltese puppy. But it seems like I remember them having greyish blue eyes when they were real young. They did change to black. It will be interesting to see what color they go.

Sylvia, your Ben is precious! Never heard of green eyes but I'm very much like you in that I would keep him as he is unique! Looking foward to pics of Angel! And of course your Yorkies too!:)

My guess about the green eyes is could be that they are still young. Why did the breeder let them go so young? That is way to young to let the pups go. But I guess they will have enough pups around them with your yorkies to get socialized.

I Found Nemo

I think they were let go way to young. A reputable breeder will not let puppies go until 12 weeks. Don't get offended, whats done is done, but they need to remain with their mom for the first 12 weeks, she teaches them socialization skills ..When a pup is let go too young they may become aggressive and also have bad social skills, I hope this will not be the case for you..:)

Hi and welcome, would love to see pics of all your Yorkies.:)

Sorry I tend to agree with a couple of other posters that 7 weeks is very young to be taken away from mother and siblings. As some one said it is good you have your yorkies so they can get socialized.

He is adorable, what age is he? He looks a little older than 7 weeks.

POTL is pick of the litter. No, Angel was about 9 weeks in those pictures which should make Ben about 10 weeks. I'm really hoping she was off and meant he was a month older. If he's not a lot older than Angel, he's gonna be too big to breed to her.

Hmm, I didn't really think about it. I think I thot that because they are bigger that they didn't need their mother's as much as Yorkies do. My Yorkies range in size, excluding the babies from 2#10ozs to 11#. Perhaps I was just too eager and didn't want anyone snatching Angel up before I got her. She was already away from her mother. The breeder didn't own the mother.

You could be right, I dont know about Yorkies, I just thought all pups should stay with the mom until 12 weeks..

I'm a better breeder now than I have ever been. LOL I have bred Poodles and Cockers years ago. I last bred Cockers about 20 years ago. I was planning on breeding Angel and Ben but when I got him home and weighed him. WOW, there was like a 2# difference in their weights. He's suppose to be only a week older. I don't know their growth patterns. I know my little Yorkies are fully grown between 6 and 7 months. Their weights might fluxuate but they are the size they are going to be as adults. My big Yorkies grow until they are 18 - 24 months. The Maltese breeder said she doesn't think he will go over 5# but if he's only 11 weeks, I have my doubts. Based on my Yorkies' growth patterns. I got my yorkie at six months old and he was 4 1/2 lbs and topped out at 6 1/2 lbs. at 14 months. He's still a little fellow, smaller than my maltese! I bred for personal use only my poodle 32 years ago, but that was my last time as I lost one. Can't deal with that part of it! I wish you success.

I had a little green eyed blond Cocker. I looked and waited for so long to get one and then he got parvo right after I got him. I went out of breeding after that for a long time. I don't remember how long, then I tried again. I loved that little boy sooooo much. Sylvia
