Wednesday was Toby's second day at training classes. This time all eight of the class members were there with their dogs. Toby was a little stressed out but quickly calmed down when we started class. He has the heeling down pat!!! I can walk with a loose leash and he stays right by me no matter how fast or how quickly I turn, he stays right with me. Only when another dog gets too close or sneaks up on him does he go out of the heel. He still does not quite have the sit when we stop, he sort of just looks up at me, like are we done yet?:( Then I have to give him the command and make him sit. He did sit twice on his own which was soooooooo good to see him come around. Then we practiced the sit, stay and walk away from him and stand in front of him. Count two seconds and then return to his side without him moving. He did fine with that and I actually took several steps back away from him and he stayed. They want us to be able to command them to sit, stay and then to walk around them eventually without them breaking their sit and stay command. I have my work cut out for me but we are going to work really hard on it. His success all depends on my putting forth the effort so I am going to try to really work with him. He's my little sweet velcro baby.
