That is why I posted it I thought maybe someone could tell this Aussie why  The Shih Tzu is but not the Maltese
Did you check your city Andrea?
It may be different depending on your city.

you've got to remember that these are only the ones registered & only with AKC registries.

Isnt AKC the "main" registery?
I bet Maltese would be way up there if BYB and the dreaded Petshop puppies were included. JMO:)
Here in Au the Maltese is not as popular as the King Charles Spaniel, the Pug, the Poodle, the Shih Tzu or the Pom from what I have read :(

:tongue6: There must be a mistake....it can't be! Maltese should be on there if not #1........at least #2........I'm horrified at this report. Who could have compiled such a list and left off the maltese.
In reallity, I only found out about these lovely darlings a couple of years ago when I was looking to get another dog and I just happened to see "maltese" for sale and had to look it up on AKC.........so I just don't think they are as widely known like some of the other breeds. jmo

Maltese is No. 10 in Los Angeles.
I really wonder how accurate this list is, since it is only AKC registered and some people dont bother to send in the registration papers especially if they do not have any intentions of showing.
Statistics, one can never take them for face value, ya gotta read between the lines

Exactly............I did not register Kallie but she is CKC and not AKC. So you do wonder about the statistics.........they use what they have.

Now, Andrea, Nemo AND Kallie may have come from a bad place but they have turned out to be absolutely "wonderful" furbutts! I wouldn't trade Kallie for a million dollar showdog.......honestly!! Hubby wouldn't let me anyway! LOL Would you trade Nemo? NO, I don't think so! :smlove2:

Let me tell you, I hear horror stories about pet shop dogs, and I really lucked out with Nemo. He is so good, well behaved and just loving.. I also have friends that have dogs from big breeders and their dogs are sick, so it goes both ways, but yea I would never trade Nemo for any other, ever:smlove2:
