I saw Squeaker (my kitty) laying by the window and I went over to talk to her and pet her. I went to pick her up and she just flopped to the side. She's nothing but skin and bones and she's eating about 3-4 times a day. She's making funny noises when she breathes. After flopping to her side, she had enough energy to pull herself up and curled up on my legs. She let me pet and kiss her, which is rare. She usually likes to just be left alone. I told her how much I loved her and gave her lots of kisses. I just cried and cried. I'm crying right now. My baby is dying and there isn't anything I can do to help her.

Have you had her checked by the vet yet??? It could be Feline Leukemia or even diabetes...........meds will fix the diabetes but not the leukemia. I will definitely keep you and your sweet Squeaker in my thoughts and prayers. I am soooo sorry Ashley.

They ran every test they could do on her and came up with nothing. She is 16, almost 17 years old.

We took her to the vet again today. They said she does not have feline aids/leukemia. She does have a severe heart murmur and they think she has a tumor. Since we can't pay for everything all at once, we are trying more antibiotics since it also might be an infection. The vet said bring her back in a week and if she hasn't gained any weight back or if she is still ill, then we have to put her down :-(

Oh Ashley, I am sooooo very sorry about Squeaker. But how wonderful that you have had her 17 years! It is a horrible decision that you are presented with and I have been there and know just how difficult this can be. It's really hard to let go but it's hard to see them suffer. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.:( :( Please keep us updated.

New update:

I don't know if she'll even make it through the night. My family called me downstairs because she was foaming at the mouth and was being very restless. She wouldn't let neither my mom or aunt near her and she absolutely loves them. I sat down on the couch to just watch her and she jumped up just to lay against my lap, which she usually doesn't do with me. I hate going through this.

I started crying at the vet's office and I think the vet has a daughter around my age, because he said that I remind him of "his girl" and he was being extremely kind and compassionate with me.

I've grown up with Squeaker. I've had her since I was 3 years old...

I named her Squeaker cause she "squeaked like a mouse". My precious baby... she can't leave me now.... we've been through too much together.

Ashley, I know this has to be soooo difficult. Having an animal for that long makes them family to most of us. Just remember we all know that having a pet, be it a cat or dog, that someday we have to say good-bye to them. I hope Squeaker recovers but it does not sound very good at the moment with your last post. Do what is best for your baby and if it is time to let her go, have a good cry and let her go. I'm soooo sorry!:( :(

Ashley, I'm so sorry about your precious Squeaker. I hope all goes well, but remember all the good times and you have given her the best life possible. I know it's hard to say good-bye. Do what's best for your baby when the time comes. I will keep you and Squeaker in my prayers.

Squeaky doesn't sound any better, but I think she put on just a little bit of weight. She's still being extremely loving, which is weird cause usually she likes to be left alone.

Squeaker is still not doing so good. She doesn't sound has sinusy as before and she seems like she's gained a little. Her spirit though is just gone. She just acts like she doesn't feel well and almost like she just wants to be alone. She seems annoyed. I did see her moving around a little today though, which is good. We take her to the vet tomorrow evening. Keep your fingers crossed that he thinks she'll get better with another week of antibiotics!
