Okay, is it really worth it?
I dont know... im seeing static and frizziness a little but still I see it...
and the brushing and dematting is driving me INSANE!

my little girl is fine but it seems dueci is matting up like crazy! :p

Is it honestly work it?
im not sure...

I wonder sometimes too Jadey:(

What you have to think about is, do i want short hair or long hair? They will be beautiful with either.

Long hair is hard work but so worth the time & energy you put into it. I go through phases & it's all do to with my frame of mind at the time whether mine get a cut or let it grow. Abbie has never been cut & i really want to try & not. The boys, well i may be having a happy scissor day so who knows what they may end up with:D

If you really really want the long coat then you have to make some changes to what they sleep on, play on, run about on & daily combing is essential. The coat does not have to be in perfect condition as they are not being shown, so don't be too hard on yourself if you need to cut a little matt out here & there but the bigger ones will need de-matting.

Let us know what you decide;)

It is absolutely a lot more work keeping the hair long.........but if I brush them EVERY day without fail, it is not that much work. The frizz, well, I tried the mayo treatment on Kallie and it made a big difference. As her hair continues to grow, I have noticed the new hair is a lot more silky so I think the frizz is from all the damage that was done to her coat by the previous owner. So, I'm hoping with all the care I've been giving her coat that the frizz will deminish as time goes on. It's a hard decision but hubby and I both love the long coat look! Just our preference..........and a big consideration, I have the time to keep it long! I have no clue about what the hair will be like if you cut it and let it grow long again. I've not cut kallie's hair since we got her two years ago!:tongue6:

It is hard work and I give you girls alot of credit. I couldnt do it so Nemo is staying in a puupy-cut!! It's so much work and I only have one:D
They do look beautiful though in a full coat:smlove2:

I don't have any patience at all:D But Elaine and Carol, you did a great job with your babies' hair. All gorgeous!:smlove2: I agree with Andrea, I'm keeping LB's hair short.

Oh but once it is grown out so BEAUTIFUL, it is so very hard to cut it!!!! :D Just a question: Do you use a soft small brush around their face? I only had one brush at one time (duh me)........now I have FIVE! I have a small pin brush for their face and a another softer brush I use on their face. I think they were scared of the big brush coming close to their eyes but now that I have the smaller brush and the softer brush, they just sit there and let me groom them. Sometimes I feel like a monkey with all the grooming i do on my two long haired babies. LOL:fainted: :fainted: :fainted:

I give all of you guys credit who have the long hair on their Maltese. I've always had the puppy cut on my boys. We had Max for 12 years and never had long hair on him. Jack has a little more hair than Max had, but it's still short. I just love to look at other owners dogs and show dogs with the long hair.

I love all mine kept with long hair. It might be more work but if I keep up with it everyday it isn't hard to take care of. So to me it is definitely worth it keeping them in long hair, in fact that is one of the reasons why I love the breed so much!!

They look beautiful too!
I am trying to keep my Lhasa in a longer coat after seeing Sarah's perfectly groomed dogs, but she is just so miserable and hot, and it's only March!
When we're at our weekend house she likes to bark at the waves at the lake and being she is big and heavy (I'm just lazy..) I put off bathing her, so my sheets are not the freshest.
Holly just found out about the lake/yard and her coat is getting longer, I really want to keep her in it longer so we'll see.
