Thank you so much for your compliment. Your babies are gorgeous too!!!

I brush him almost everyday or at least every 2 days. Besides I bath him every week or every 10 day. When I feed him, I protect his face with a cover in order the food doesn't stick his fur. I clean his face from time to time after he finishes drinking. I am thinking about buying a water bottle for him next time. The most important I clean his feet whenever they are dirty. The coat should be as clean as possible. :)

Thank you. I put Apple Cider Vinegar in his water and I cook for him (stop giving him kibble). It takes for months to get rid of his tear stain as far as I remember (at least 6 months). Once the tear stain is gone, the face will be very white. One of the advantage of ACV that I found is Hanzo's tears tend to be dried and they don't stick to his fur, so I only pull out the dried tears out of his fur. :) I suspect that the kibble is one of the cause of tear stain too and that's why I only cook for him.

Hope my explanation is clear enough for you. You can also read the topic I wrote to get more information.

A water bottle and the elevated food dish was the best thing I could have done for keeping their faces looking great!

I agree about the ACV.........it does help with keeping the eye area clean and healthy and is suppose to be great for the digestive tract! Bren (Kanga) is the one that told me about the ACV and I have been using it for several months now. I buy the unfiltered organice apple cider vinegar from the health food store.........I'm sold on the idea that this truly helps.

As far as the cooking goes, could you give an example of what you are preparing for him??? And how has the home cooked food affected his poo??? I guess that is what I like about the Natural Balance Duck/Potato........reduces the poo to once or twice a day. And believe me, when you have three and you keep their poo picked up out of the yard, you are very very grateful for a one or two times three poo a day!:D:D

Here is what you asked for the home cooked I prepare for him.

500 grams chicken (boil it), the broth of the chicken can be used to cook brown rice (125 - 250 grams), 250 grams cubed carrot, 250 grams cubed zucchini. Take out all the chicken bones, boil the rice and then add the chicken meat (small pieces), add the carrot and zucchini as well in the rice (do not need to cook the carrot and zucchini). I also add parsley (it's good to cast tick or fleas away - I don't use garlic coz it's not good for him).

I serve hanzo 3 spoons twice a day. I put the food in several boxes (or plastic bags - what I don't need I put them in the freezer). One box can provide him 2 days food. The recipe will be enough for 5 days or maximun 1 week. When I serve the food, I warm it and then I add a tea spoon of flaxseed and sunflower seed (powder) coz they are good for their coat due to their Omega 3 and 6 (do not microwave them coz they should be served cold). If you can find flaxseed, olive, sunflower and germ oil, you can also add 1 teaspoon of the oil.

From time to time I give them also chicken gizzards and hearts and sometimes livers.

I also give him one boiled egg per week and I also give him a little amount of white cheese from time to time.

Regarding the poo, so far Hanzo has no problem with it. He has poo once or twice a day maximun and it's not a loose poo anyway. It's normal. Probably for the first time you'll see the poo is a little bit loose coz he hasn't use to the home cooked one. Once he uses to it, he will not have problems at all.

I notice that his coat becomes more shiny, glossy and healthy.

Thank you for following Hanzo's improvement. I just want to do what the best for Hanzo is. He deserves it since he was an abandoned boy.

He had a very unhappy and difficult time and this is the reason why I want to do what the best for him is. :)

Your little boy is just so handsome. I give you alot of credit for all the cooking you do for him. I've been thinking of doing the acv for quite some time. How much do you put in the water for the day?

Thanks so much.........sounds like a good diet. I may try doing it myself or alternate between kibble and the home made. I give them Kelp for the coat but didn't know about the parsley for fleas.........now that is a must try!

Thanks :) I put a teaspoon of ACV in his bowl (about 250 ml distilled water only). I also put a spoon of ACV in a glass of water for myself. So either I or Hanzo gets the benefit of ACV. :)
