Just wondering... :) Also, how much did he or she weigh at the time?

Tuffy was only 7 weeks old when I got him. I regret getting him so young but I didn't know any better back then. He weighed a little under 2 lbs and now at 1 1/2 years old he weighs a little over 7 lbs.

Chloe was almost 6 months old when we got her. She was about 4.5 lbs. She just kept ona growin! Her momma was about 8 or 9 lbs so we expected as much. She's 7 lbs now.
Lexi was 9 weeks and 2 lbs, she's 5.5 lbs now, Tucker was 14 weeks and 3 lbs. he's 5 lbs now.
Of all the maltese we have Tucker's personality has been the best as far as being able to adjust well and stuff. I would definately recommend waiting until 12 to 14 weeks. He was well socialized and confident and he still is. Chloe was quite a bit older and it took her longer to bond with us. Lexi has some issues that could have been helped by leaving her with her litter mates a little longer.

From experience, I agree with waiting as long as possible. I got Stewie the Yorkie at 16 weeks and he was very well-adjusted and had manners his mama taught him (granted, hey lost all of them now :p)
I guess I should also mention that I didn't know anything too much about how old the puppy should be when they go to their forever homes, it just so happened that he was that old when my breeder let me come over to look at him .

Bentley was about 16 weeks when I got him. Not sure about his weight but I know it was less than 3 lbs..maybe more like 2 1/2. He's a big boy now at 7 lbs. He's not fat, he has very fine delicate bones and is thin, I guess his frame is taller.

Ideally Maltese should be at least 12 weeks old before leaving their mother and going to their forever home. However, because we were expecting company and I couldn't make the trip the week I should have picked Sassy up I talked the breeder into letting me pick her up early. I got her at 10 weeks and she weighed 1 lb 5 ozs. Cute little thing! Now she is 2 yrs 8 months old and weighs 6 pounds most days (she is a piglet).
My mommy says I am a bir gir-r-r now. ~Sassy

I got Quincy at just over 11 weeks, breeder let him go cause he was such a big boy--3 pounds. He is about 8 pounds now.
Jonas was 12 weeks and 1.7 pounds, he is 4 pounds now; and Lily I got as an adult at 2 years old (we think), and she is about 2 1/2 pounds now. I love the difference in sizes, they are all perfectly sized---I don't think I could make a choice as to what the best size is to have. I adore my big Quincy, you can wrap your arms around him for a hug, and he hugs back. He is the biggest, but so sweet and gentle, we call him Mama Quincy cause he mothers the other two.
