Okay, I've had Kallie two years and she has NEVER EVER ate her poop! I just took her potty and she did #2.............and then I looked down at Toby, looked back at her and she was chewing something. I let Toby out of the lanai and ran over and there she was eating her poop! She even nipped a warning at Toby to stay away from her pile! UGH........why????? Think it is a deficiency or something? She had good food in her dish to eat? I think I'm going to go puke!:fainted: :fainted:

Oh Carol:tongue6: makes those kisses not so appealing now:fainted:
I dont know, maybe it was not digested properly & it still smelled good to her!
Keep an eye on her now when she goes poop & try to pick it up right away.
Sorry hun..... brush her teeth:tongue12:

Carol, as gross as it is, I imagine must dogs have tried it a time or 2. I have never seen Sadie do it, but when we first got Bucky, we was a chronic poop eater, even thoug food and treats were readily available. We had to use Deter with him, which took care of the problem. I have sampled food before that tasted like crap, but I think that is taking it to extremes!!!! If you see her do it again, you may want to try some Deter or something along that line. The general premise is that it makes her poop taste bad - wouldn't you think it did that all on it's own????

YES, I am in total shock and disbelief! Not my sweet Kallie! But why all of a sudden? Ya think it might be because I added another dog food to her variety? I just three days ago added some lamb and rice by Solid Gold. It hasn't changed her poop consistency (Andrea is going to laugh again but I'm prepared this time) or smell............I'm just totally baffled! Horrified!!! and sick at my stomach. At least she didn't get a chance to eat the whole pile! That's the upside of it all! And shoot me, but I smelled her breath and it did not smell bad or like poop at all..........but she did eat some of it! I saw how much came out and how much was left on the ground, she ate it!!!!:fainted:
Thanks for the information on the Deter...........you get it at a petshop??? or a vet??? online???? It will be the first thing I get if she dares to eat her poop again! I used the minty petzlife on her, whewwww, at least it has to kill that ugh bacteria that the poop must have!

Carol, I got it at PetSmart. it says 1 tablet for each 10 lbs. of body weight, but the vet said there is absolutely nothing in it that can hurt them so to give Bucky 1 tablet twice daily, even though he only weighed 4 lbs. at the time. Worked within days and I have never seen him show any interest in poo since then, and it has been over a year...

Sometimes if a food is too high in protein for the dog there will be undigested food in their poop which entices them to eat it. it must give off a nice warm aroma :D
When Scrappy was a wee puppy he did it a few times and I diced up some pineapple into his food and something about pineapple when digested turns them off wanting to eat their poop.
Scrappy loves pineapple and gets it as a treat or some juice on his kibble he loves it.
Hope I have helped you :)

All suggestions are welcome!!! I just hope it was a one time thing. I will have to check the protein on her dog food! I didn't see any undigested tidbits in her poop though! Ugh, I'm getting sick all over again!:sickie: :sickie: :fainted:

Oh Carol, yuk yuk yuk. My Ernie did it once, I nearly died, yuk yuk yuk, he has never done it again though, so with a bit of luck it may have been a one time deal with kallie.
I think the pineapple Idea sounds good.

Aw Carol, I'm so sorry you had to see that. I'm sorry I can't be much help. LB is a poop eater too:( She's getting better, we've kept a closer eye on her than usual and she hasn't done it in weeks. Soooo....she's currently on the wagon. I hear that they don't outgrow that and that so sad, but I'll keep on trying! Good luck, I hope that Kallie doesn't do it again.
