Where did your Maltese come from (state, city, breeder)?
Were you pleased with the relationship you had with your breeder?
How long did it take for you to find your Maltese?

I got Chloe from a local lady here in N. California. Who had 2 adult females and a male. Chloe was the only pup in her litter, her mommy was getting up there in age and this was her last litter. She had intended to keep Chloe but had some personal issues come up and felt she was still young enough to rehome without too much of a problem. We email eachother often. I keep her dogs fully clothed :p . She no longer breeds. It's been a good experience. It took us about 6 months to find Chloe. Maltese breeders are not common in my area and I really wanted to be able to see the pups in person before buying. We traveled several hours away just to look at pups that were a maybe. And we did drive 10 hours one way to get my mom's male. It took about 8 months to find him. It is such a big job to find the right one for you!

Bentley is a Pashes Maltese http://www.pashesmaltese.com/ . I'm in Texas and was happy to find that she isn't too far from me. There are several very good lines here in Texas. Took me several months to find a breeder with an available pup that I could afford :) . I have done lots of research, attended dog shows, follow results and spoken to several breeders. At the time maltese were selling for much more than yorkies..not sure if thats still true. I do think good maltese breeders are fewer and far between. As always, do your research.

Luvmypupster: I just went and looked at that website. The first thing I noticed is what cute tiny pinched noses they have! That puppy on the puppies page is darling!

When looking for a malt find a breeder that intrest you. Look at their link page, your going to see what a small circle the maltese world is as far as breeding and showing. They are pretty much linked to each other.

Tuffy came from a local breeder. As soon as I had decided that I wanted a dog, was ready for a dog and knew I wanted a Maltese I looked in the newspaper and found them and went and picked Tuffy up that day. They were super nice but totally uneducated about breeding. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone because they aren't breeding standard dogs and they are breeding dogs with health issues. The breeders never kept in touch with me to see how Tuffy was doing and I was pretty much on my own. I really learned my lesson and when I started looking for Pixie I did my homework with breeders to find a reputable one.

We got chelsey from Fivemaples Maltese in Canada, Oshowa
The beeders name is Jean. she is a very nice and caring lady.
Her and her husban breed only maltease puppies and have won best in breed as well. I still keep in contact with her and sent her updated pictures of chelsey and chester. chelsey will be 1 year soon and I ask her breeder lots of questions . She always has time to reply to my mails. She also grooms as well.
It only took me one month to find a good breeder as my first puppies was a maltese from a byb so this time I wanted to do it right the second time around.
I checked the CKC that is for canada not the one in the us. I also checked out what she told me about her furbies winning in shows. She was also recommented by our vet for chester that is not even anywhere close to were the beeder is located in canada. She spent 2 hours with us went we went to view the puppies and showed us her ribons from shows and gave us a tour of her home. She even gave me tips for grooming and taking care of chelsey and chester . We are very please and happy we got chelsey from her.
chelsey is the perfect puppy for me in everyway.

I found Lily at a breeder that lives about 45 miles away. The lady had 2 adult females and 1 male. Can't remember her name but she was pretty nice.
We wonder about Lily, though. Originally, she was bought with the potential to breed but after having her, was decided against it. Lily has gorgeous hair but not good confirmation. Also, she has a very nervous stomach and will constantly throw up in a new environment. Also, she has some type of nervous condition. I don't want to call them seizures but her head will start bobbing up and down for about 5 seconds. It's really weird.
She's 4 1/2 lbs so she's way to tiny to breed but she's loved either way. I think my mom is going to have her spayed which is the best thing for her. Also, my mom is going to have some tests run on her for her "episodes". Will keep you guys posted!

It would be a good idea to have the tests run before the surgery to see if there is anything going on before you have her put under for surgery. Also make sure your vet is well versed in toy breeds. Sassy was 4 lbs. when she was spayed and she came through with flying colors.

I got Cookie when I just turned 20 years old. Being a little naive, I believed the first breeder who said she had a puppy that matched my huge list of demands (unrealistic). I went to Jenny Siliski (no need to say more). But Cookie is a great girl, she is very healthy and so darn smart. I love her to death.
Nibbler came from Rhapsody Maltese but was bred by Riverwalk Maltese. Tonia from Rhapsody Maltese was holding him for show but he is a teenie one at only 3 lbs.
Sparkle was my show potential from Chalet de Maltese (Susie Pham). Although she warned me that she may be too small, I decieded to take the risk. We thought she would hit 4 lbs but she is only 3 lbs too. She is beautiful in every prospective and is now a beloved pet.
I also have two show potential girls with me right now from Susie. I am evaluating them and will be keeping one of them for show. The other baby will go back to Susie to another show or pet home. It is really tough because they are both so darn cute and I am attached to both of them.

My breeder (Torrance, CA)...bred a litter for one of their family members.
He told me that a family member wanted a dog, so he figured he would breed their Maltese and give him/her the puppy.
There was a litter of two. The bigger puppy was given to the relatives. My gf and I purchased the other one (we never saw the parents nor the other puppy).
The breeder only bred for the family and doesn't typically breed at all.
Anyways, we were NOT satisfied w/ our breeder because HE claimed the puppy was AKC. Turns out that was not the case. He verbally told us AKC. On a paper contract, he wrote that the puppy would "have a pedigree". When the paper showed it, it was for a AKR or something. And looking at the specifics of that pedigree,...it accepted ANY dog no matter what.
So we were less than pleased w/ this deception.
Our Mimi though...is an absolute doll! It wasn't worth the time to pursue the breeder for deception. We fell in love w/ her regardless of her pedigree or lack thereoff.
As for how long it took,...it was a few months...and we just happend to come across the ad for her.
