Well, it went great! Toby did things I never expected he would do. Did the down/stay command for three minutes while laying within two feet of a long-haired doxie!! Now that is fantastic improvement for Toby. Normally he would be the attached to the jugular if another dog came that close.:o
We only had one incident of a bigger female "mixed" dog that was in the sit/stay by the owner's side and when Toby went behind them heeling, she went towards him with a bark and growl. Toby turned and looked at her but did not respond...............thank goodness. The handler got the dog under control quickly and apologized. Whewww! Made my heart race.
So we are learning to do hand commands and he is picking up on them really fast. She had us tell them to stay and walk out to the end of the leash and pull it so there was no slack............he didn't move so much as an inch. Some of the other dogs got up. Then we went to the end of the leash and hand signaled them to down and my little "star" did it. I am sooooo proud of him, can you tell???
We have to be able to do all these hand commands to graduate..........I am so hoping that he will continue to do well!
