For those of you that are hesitant to use chemicals on your babies, here is a site http://www.liquidfence.com/liquid-net-for-pets-bottle.html that sells natural sprays for "ticks, fleas and other biting insects." I have ordered some for the dogs and for humans.
I haven't had a chance to try it yet but have heard reviews from other people that say it works wonders.
Just a FYI :)

It works like bug spray works on humans. It keeps the bugs off. One lady said she took her dog out and within an hour or so picked off over twenty ticks from her dog. She then sprayed him with the repellant and he didn't get one tick on him, but she got three on herself cause she wasn't wearing any of the (human) repellant.
So.. I will be trying it soon here and we'll see if the bugs run away. :D

I know - I can't stand those disgusting things.
There is a 25 yr. old Wisconsin man who is autistic - he disappeared from the campgrounds he was at and no one could find him. They searched for a week and were very concerned cause he need daily meds for his kidneys.
They were just about to call off the search day before yesterday and they found him at the very last minute. He was a mile away from camp and they said he was covered in TICKS. He couldn't even stand, I guess. Gosh, what if they had quit searching 10 minutes earlier? He would probably be dead by now.
He's in the hospital and doing ok.
Can you imagine having that many ticks on you? Totally gross. I would imagine they are concerned about Lyme's disease cause of all the ticks.

Between the flea and tick prevention (Flea Treats) and the spray - I haven't seen one tick yet on my dogs and no fleas! I haven't even had to use the spray very much but it definitely works.
We are surrounded on three sides by pretty heavy woods and the river just beyond the woods on one side. So, there is plenty of opportunity for the dogs to encounter ticks. I am SO glad they are free of those yucky, yucky things. :D I really do hate bugs.
