I found an old book about dogs. It was written in 1959 by some veterinaries in France. In it they are talking about the Bichon Maltais. Apparently the Maltese came in multiple colors for a time but the white ones were more sought after.
So Melanie I was thinking about you and who knows, maybe one of those days you will find a black Maltese.

I also read that in one of my "old" books about maltese...........they eventually bred out all the colors until they had white only. I would not mind having a black or multi-colored maltese. Just so long as it is a maltese with the maltese personality, I don't care what color she would be.:hearter::hearter:

I totally agree with you. I would love a black, brown, multi-color Maltie as long as it was a true 'Maltie'.

Jane, one can always be hopeful.... :wink5: Thanks for thinking of me.
I had also found an old book and in it they talked about how Maltese use to come in multiple colors, so that is why I always hope to find a black one, some day.
