Well today was a bit scarey for me.......we walked all nine dogs off leash in a circle. Toby was a little bit off beat and would not heel right next to me and was straying off from my side. I think he was licking his chops as to which dog would be his first victim. So I put him back on leash. Then I tried it again and he did fine.....go figure.
He is really doing well. I about dropped my drawers when we did the down/stay and then she had us walk OUT THE DOOR!!!!!!!!   I was almost 100% certain that he would break his command and come a running thinking I was leaving him behind and then there was also the four other dogs lined up with him "ALONE" that he had do deal with..............but he surprised me and stayed put!!! YAY
We mostly did repeats of the things we have learned in the first four weeks trying to perfect them. Toby still will not do the sit from the down position and the trainer said it was one of the hardest commands for them to learn. None of the other dogs are doing it either so if I can get him to do it, I might just win the trainer over!! :) :)
There is one "huge" German Shepherd there that is 10 months old and very friendly. I held Toby and the dog smelled him all over even on the top of the head and Toby did not even growl but I know if I had let go, Toby would have been all over him. He is getting better but has a way to go. At least there were no situations this week. AND he did go up to two people today which he normally would not. He is just timid with other people but not aggressive........so I think we are making progress with him.
