I am looking for a Vet, I have taken my baby the Banfield Vet and they did a great job with her...They are very caring and all, but when I asked about spaying, they said they were going to charge about $350...Does this sound right?! My Mother-In-Law paid about $75 for her yorkie, and that is even when she did it WHILE her baby was in heat! I thought that this was kinda crazy!

Sorry, me being from the UK cant help with this one but i don't think we have any active members from Southern Cali.

Could you call around other vets in your area & ask about their spay/neuter costs & also find out from your vets what this cost includes. Maybe that includes blood work & your MIL's did not.

Hello:

I am from So. CA. I am also facing the same issue. I heard $260.00 was the fee. Are you in L.A. or San Diego?

$350 sounds a bit high but I think CA is higher on some things. I payed less that $150 to have Kallie spayed. Toby came to us already nuetered. Just call around a few places.........compare prices. Call you local ASPCA and see if they are running any sort of dog owner deals......or recommendations. I didn't know they could do a dog when it was in heat, that's news to me!

Hello there!

I live in San Diego and have had LB spayed for $165.00. I go to Vetco and Dr. Johnson is the vet that spayed her. They have a shot clinic every Saturday starting at 1:00, they are really nice over there. PM me if you have any other questions!

I'm in N. California. It's pricey here too. You can shop around and see what other vets charge. I've always gone to the same vet hospital by me because i thought they would be able to better care for my furkids, but I've found out that isn't so. I've found a vet with a small practice, an old sweet guy, and he charges so much less and I get much better service.

Hey thanks everyone! I live in San Diego...La Jolla to be exact, so I will call around and see what they tell me...Is it bad to take her to one vet to get spayed and another for her regular check ups and shots (things of that sort)? I really want to find someone to take her too all the time though...that way they know her better!

Krystal, I work near La Jolla, UTC to be exact. I would go to the Vetco on Clairemont Mesa Blvd, right next to Petco. They are so nice there. Reasonable I say.

I had Fendi spayed in Orange County, CA. And the price for that was $200 including pain killers and antibiotics. My husband's family had their pomeranian spayed at a local clinic for about $100, but I've seen the place it doesn't look like they're very clean and the staff don't seem to be very attentive.

I live in LA, near OC. My friends and I all take our babies to VCA Animal Hospitals. They're a franchise and their prices are pretty good except. I think spaying a Maltese would cost around $150 there, not sure tho. I got a free spay voucher from Lange Foundation when I signed up for puppy training at Petsmart. It's for a local vet and I asked them how much it would normally cost they said $75. So I guess it really depends on where you go in LA. It's so hard for me to trust any vets around here. I always feel like they're trying to rip me off :o

You two should catch up for a puppy play date. I wish someone on here lived close to me so we could have play dates:D
