We went to a new building this week for training. A much inproved building since her lease was up at the old building. It was a little uncomfortable for all the dogs to be in a new environment but for the most part, they all did great. We did a lot of repeat of the basic stuff and then we did some off leash work which Toby did great! He has trouble with the stand command from the sit position and the sit command from the down position. I am going to have to step up his practice sessions if he is going to pass this class. He is doing really well with all the stay commands. Just needs me to get myself in gear and work a little harder with him. Just two more weeks to go to graduation. Then he will be able to enter the Advanced 2 Class. A lot of off leash work and hand only commands but I think he needs the challenge! :)

Good job Toby...the stand/sit/down transition stuff is difficult, but I know you guys can do it.

How long are you planning on keeping him in training classes?

I think it is so fun and rewarding when you see the fruit of your labors in dog training. I like watching them obey the commands.

The Shepherd I had once was in training and she was at the top of her class. The last day we were being tested and things were going great. We did the sit/stay without the leash and all of a sudden my dog layed down. Needless to say she was not in 1st place anymore. :( She had been doing it perfectly up till then. I really think she did it on purpose.
