Week #7 of Advance Training for Toby

Well, today went well, we did a variety of things that we have learned over the past six weeks. During the figure 8, Toby was heeling really good and when he would past the sitting dogs that we were doing the figure 8 around, he would slow down and give them "THE" LOOK" and a low growl. He is some little dog!!! So the trainer decided that maybe a pinch collar was the next step. I was hesitant as he is just such a little fellow but he really did not like the gentle leader anyway as it bothered his muzzle. As soon as I would take the gentle leader off, he would rub his muzzle on anything he could find to rub it on. Well, he only wore the pinch collar the last 15 minutes of class and she did work a little extra time with him around the other "bigger" dogs, two of which are aggressive themselves. Well, the first time I corrected him for the growling as he passed by, he yelped but he walked like a Prince after that right past them big dogs as if they didn't even exist. Then she had all the dogs line up on one wall and had Toby walk within a foot or two of them several times and he never once growled. HE LOOKED but did not growl.........a huge improvement. Then we did a down/stay and walked to the other side of the room. Called them and then downed them before they could get to you. He tripped over his leash and so sat down when he felt the tug on his leash.:lol2::lol2::lol2: So she had me try it again, without the leash, and wouldn't you know it, he did it perfectly. She told all of us that we have done marvelous with our dogs and they would be tested next week but that she was already going to pass them all but to still work hard on the commands with them.

Then the bad news. She has an Advanced Training 2 starting next month but it is on a Tuesday and my Tuesday's are booked..........:(:(

But she does have a rally class starting up on July 11th so I may go ahead and work with him on that. She doesn't do agility anymore as she had to move and has no area to work the dogs now.:(:(
