Did you ever wonder "WHY" dogs sniff better than we do???
Well, if you have I am going to tell you why and if you haven't then consider this some new and interesting information!:lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2:
Ok, on a serious note now: Dogs have more sensitive noses than humans because dogs have 20 to 40 times as many olfactory receptor cells as people and the part of the canine brain devoted to smells - the olfactory lobe -- is four times larger than a human's.
And what is the Olfactory lobe: A projection of the lower anterior portion of each cerebral hemisphere, functioning in the sense of smell.
No wonder they sniff better than we do!
So how do they use this special "gift" of extra sniffing ability?
To snift out bed-bugs, detecting when a cow is ready for mating, termite detection, locating desert tortoises, detecting noxious weeds and leaks in gas pipelines.............and of course their CSI abilities for guns, drugs, criminals, dead bodies, etc.
