Hey everyone, its me again! I am a little concerned right now with Mia's health. Yesterday I noticed that there was a popping sound in her legs when she walks. I dont know what it could be. Have any of you had this problem? I know when I took her to the vet the day I got her he said her joints were fine, but a week later is a big difference! She is getting a little more daring and has been jumping off the sofa and even my bed! When ever I catch her doing this I stop her and tell her "no jumping." I am going to go buy her some steps so she doesnt hurt herself...

I have never experienced this with Kallie, she is a prissy princess, and won't jump off of things if someone is around to help her, she just see's no need to I think!! So sorry I can't be any help with this !!! I hope someone else can be, and hope that she is okay!!

You want to stop that jumping off the bed right away if you can. How does Mia get up on the bed? We got steps right away and Jack is using them all the time. Our 1st maltie used to jump off the bed and eventually he had to have surgery. Get those little legs checked out again just to be sure.

Hi , popping joints are one of the most common signs of luxating patella - something quite common in the breed . I really would have your vet check her legs . Sarah

Kallie's knee joints pop too!! Had her checked by the vet and he told me her knee caps were popping and the next vet told me she has Grade 2 luxating patella but has no visible signs such as limping or favoring either of her back legs. No need for surgery at this time and maybe never according to the vet. I also got stairs for the furbabies to keep them from jumping......we're just very careful that she doesn't push herself and cause further injury to hasten her luxating patella condition. Your baby is probably fine but if you want to have peace of mind, try calling the vet and letting them know what is going on and your concerns; might save you a vet visit. And they might tell you to bring her in.

Ok, I will have my vet check her legs out...but if it does happen to be a luxating patella, will she need surgery? I am so scared! I am a horrible mommy....:cry2:

Kallie's knee joints pop too!! Had her to the vet for an eye infection and he told me her knee caps were popping and the next vet at the same office two weeks later for her check-up told me she has Grade 2 luxating patella but has no visible signs such as limping or favoring either of her back legs, so no need for surgery at this time and maybe never according to the vet. Hmmmm...Definitely get her checked out again, see if your vet can take xrays to make sure luxating patella is ruled out. Your Mia is still so very young, her bones are still growing. It depends on what grade she may have. LB has grade 3 luxating patella and is scheduled for surgery on Feb. 4 and she was not even 1 year old when it was diagnosed. LB is also a jumper, leaper, runner, you name it. Hard to stop something faster than you. We're getting stairs so she can stop jumping, I don't know if it will work. But since Mia is so young you can train her now. Little dogs have the tendency to develope luxating patella. You are not a bad mommy. Just make sure that Mia gets xrays done and that you and your vet discuss options. Go to that Petco I told you about. My ortho vet wants me to take her there to look her over again before her surgery. Good luck, let me know if you want their number.

Ok, so I went to get Mia some stairs today at petco...but on the way home she threw up....I had her up looking out the window, so I think she may have gotten car sick....She is still getting used to the stairs, she can make it up them, but going down in another story!
