We have new puppies

Mary, one of our English Shepherd's finally had her babies yesterday a total of 12 yes 12 she delivered 5 on her own and then had to have a c-section to get the other 7 momma and babies are doing great!!!

Oh my gosh, 12 puppies!!!! Is that the normal # of pups with English Shep.?
I'm sure they are going to be beautiful and I'm so happy that mom is doing well. Are you going to keep any?

They do have large litters most of the time I really expected 10
Not sure about keeping any my husband is working on improving his breeding program so we will see as they get older we have 9 others besides Mary and we have 9 people on the waiting list for one of Mary's babies. It will be busy around here for awhile!

OH MY GOODNESS :eek: :eek:..........How very exciting!!!! Glad mommy and babies are doing well! How in the world does she feed all of them?????? How many boys and how many girls?????

She is nursing them all but, I am supplementing just to make sure they are getting enough.

Unfortunately we have lost 1 of the sable/white pups it just wasn't strong enough to push the others aside to nurse. I worked with it have the night it was just too weak. We have 1 more that is acting the same way say a prayer we can pull this one through.

Beautiful and scary it reminds me of the first litter my Rotties had. You will lose some Belinda it's normal when the litter is that large. Just out of curiousity how many fluffs including the babies do you have now??? You need to watch were you step in your house!:D

9 English Shepherds outside, Mary and her now 11 babies inside and of course Macy, Jazzy, Sprout and Daisy. It is common to lose at least one or two with a litter this large but it always makes me sad.

They are sooooo pretty! It must be so stressful to keep tabs on so many new borns like that - to make sure all goes ok.

I'm sorry to hear about the one you lost. That is sad. :(

Belinda, I'm so sorry that one pup didn't make it. The puppy corral up by Rainbow Bridge now has a new little one.

Not a problem, my hubby watched them while I baked. I needed a break.

We lost 6 puppies we took mom and babies to the vet but all tests were neg for parasites, worms of any kind, coccidia the vet was very shocked by the loss they even checked Mary for toxic milk and was neg so without any reason we can find we lost 6 babies. We had been supplement feeding with goat's milk. The remaining 6 are doing great I well post more pics. They have not been placed yet there are some people wanting one but we have to make sure they are going to good homes before they leave us.

The remaining 6 are doing great I can almost see them growing their little eyes have started to open and they are trying to stand on all fours...very clumsy it is so much fun to watch them try to walk.

Oh I just love it when they have their eyes open and are at the wobbly stage but so persistant until they get it!! I'd love to see pics..........hurry! :) :) :)
