Thanks for the great site. That's about the same info I found in one Maltese Magazine awhile back. Where did you find that site?
My "pet" Jack sure doesn't have the standards set by the AKC but we love him all the more with his imperfections. Jack doesn't have the all black eye rims nor does he have all black paw pads. He has an underbite and he weighs 10 pounds. I wouldn't have him any other way. All the imperts give him his distinct personality.

I am truly blessed, all of my dogs are SHOW dogs, oh I mean Show Offs, LOL.

I luv my babies just as they are and wouldn't change a thing. I wish Sammy Maree didn't have Patella problems, because I don't like seeing her in discomfort:( , but thank god I am her mummy and can give her the best possible care.
I also wish Ernie didn't have that REALLY bad jaw problem as he may end having to have alot of work done on his mouth, and I don't want him to be in any discomfort. I had the option to return Ernie when my vet saw his mouth ( she recomended me to return him), but when I bought Ernie, I promised to love him his whole life and I could never have handed him back ( gosh knows what they would have done with him if I did)

I love all 3 of my kids very much, they bring such joy into my life and to me they are PERFECT.

pet: doesnt matter size color pigment bite porpotion tail

show: perfect size, structure, color, bite, eye tail
everything has to be standard to the rules of akc

for example on my dogs:

donbi is 9.9pounds she is so not show which is 4-7 pounds (correct me if im wrong)
donbi has a bad bite, she has bad hair, and color
but... 2 things she does qualify is her pigment she has real dark pigment, and her pose is amazing :) well i think

dueci would have been such a great show prospect
but his pigment didnt full in, and he has patella on both legs :fainted:
but such a great dog!

my girl aerong would have been show but she only weighs 3 pounds (plus she is spayed today)

my boy would have been shown but the breeder wanted him to be in a loving home instead of being a show dog where he would have been caged in and so on...

there is a difference in show and pet dogs but i really think all our dogs would be show material they are so special! we are all winners i think :clapsm: :clapsm: *forget akc standards*

but in all means if you are going to go show then i applaud you for it :)
i think im not ready i dont know much and i just like to have fun and just spoil my furbutts, so atm i perfer pet over show :tongue3:

i so agree with you i love how u said Show Off :)

I actually went for show quality when purchasing Arabella - but truly I couldn't care less . Arabella is very text book pretty - but often the quirks ( or faults ) add charm . My lhasa Teddy has one blue eye - it isn't show but it sure is CUTE !!!! Sarah

Oh, I couldn't agree more. You are spot on.

I got a maltese because of the personality and because I have been in love with the look of these glorious white dogs since a little girl and Scrappy has turned out to be all and more than I could ever have dreamed of. His personality fits me like a glove.;) Gosh he even enjoys playing dress up with me :D He tries so hard to please :smlove2:

To me it is the personality of these gorgeous dogs that makes them winners first and formost in my book.
