Just wondering how many people prefer to keep their malts in long coat? I prefer Bentley in a long coat but I do cut his hair twice a year. It grows back very quickly.

I like both looks, but for the most part I prefer to keep Tuffy in a short coat because he mats so badly and he looks like a cute little puppy in short coat. If I had a silky haired Maltese I'd probably keep them in long coat because it's so regal looking.

I prefer long coat as well. I just can't get used to the way Chloe looks right now since I chopped her hair. It's been 110 here and she was miserable. I will probably cut her hair only once a year if that. Maybe I could just put her hair in ponytails to keep her cool :p I have shelled her out a couple of times, shaved tummy and inside of legs. That seems to help keep her cool too.

Because Palbert is so tiny, I like to keep him in a short coat to look like a cute puppy. Plus, it's hot in Texas, so it's an added bonus to keep it short

Duh! Sorry..I new she was your sis..never thought about her being in Texas too. I'm a part time passenger on the slow boat at times.

I keep Prissy in a long coat. I shell her our in the summer as well as I'm in Texas also. She gets hot but I keep tons of fans on her at night. I just love the look I'm scared that if I cut her down I wont like it.
