I have been coming to this forum for only a very short time and I would like to say that EVERYONE here has been very welcoming and kind. :):hearter::D:D

Have you ever heard the saying "Treated like the red headed step-child"??

I am beginning to feel that way because not only do I own a MORKIE~god forbid but also a 12 pound yorkie. When I brought my little guy home, I was so proud to have done such a wonderful thing as to adopt him and want to give him all the love I possible could. I want to spoil him and give him a wonderful life with my family. I AM so happy to have him.

There is another forum that I also go to and over the past 3 or 4 days all that has happened is a bunch of bashing for mixing breeds. I feel like I no longer belong there and feel embarassed to have is adorable little picture on my avatar. :(

How do you all feel HONESTLY about this issue? Does it both you as much as I have read over the past few days on this other forum? Should I just give up and go back to being a lurker and without a face to my precious little guys????

I just feel very sad right now like the kid that no body wants to pick for the game:(

Don't be upset! Everyone has a different opinion! All that matters is that you gave him a good loving home!

I have a Yorkie that is almost 10 lbs and I always get comments about him. I don't let it bother me.

Don't let mean people stop you from posting on the forums. Just ignore them!
I love to see pics of any dog so please post some pics of your babies!

There is nothing wrong with mix breeds and Morkies are adorable. What they may have an issue with is when someone is intentionally breeding two different breeds. Making these "designer breeds" and selling them like they are something special. When you intentionally breeding together two different breeds you maybe mixing a genetic time bomb.

I am sorry they have made you feel bad they shouldn't have as long as you are loving and caring for your fluff that is all that counts. Both my Malts are not within standards. Cody is 9lbs which is over the breeds prefered weight and Mia is 4+lbs with a piggy tail. Doesn't make me love them any less actually it makes them even more special in my eyes.:hearter::hearter::hearter:

Morkies are great little furry creatures...........Why even my name says it all, Morkie4 and nobody has kicked me to the curb YET! LOL

You are more than welcome here whether you have a morkie, yorkie, or any other breed for that matter. Bashing and degrading are not permitted and is inexcuseable.

We're glad to have you as part of the forum and hope you hang around for a long time, posting and just enjoying the forum, fun and friendship!! There are a lot of wonderful gals and a few guys on here that are just the best. Never feel like you don't fit in.........if you own a furry friend or not, we are glad to have everyone on the forum.

I get the same thing when people find out that I have a Pit Bull with now 2 small dogs. Just ignore those that don't have anything good to say and respond to those that are nice.

The important thing is that you love and take care of your dogs and in their eyes you are the greatest and it doesn't matter what breed or size that they are.

I enjoy having you and your babies here and hope that you will be a part of our family.

Tell them to mind their own business!!! Gosh, do they yell about all the mixed breeds in the pounds, shelters and humane societies? That just rankles me.

You are very welcome here with your pups! I have a 12 pound Yorkie, too. :D

I'm glad you found us here. :)

Please know that we love all breeds here. Whether they are a pure bred dog or a mix breed. They are still your baby and no one had better not make you feel uncomfortable here about that. If so Mother Hubbard will come down on them and so will I and a few others. You be yourself and love your babies and I will get past your signature and start posting in your threads. Hugs to you and please know that you are loved and welcomed here. :hearter::hearter:

There loss is our gain. Please don't feel bad. My Jack is a whopping 14 pound bundle of fun loving, rough housing, fast as lightning tall and long for the breed...Maltese. He has an underbite and doesn't have the black all the way around his eyes. But guess what.....I love him like a champion.

So, you be proud of your baby and don't let anyone put you down. I rescued Jack and proud of it.

Maybe these people should take a good long look in the mirror and ask themselves if they are also up to 'standard'.

You are always welcome here, we love all pets, and like Carol said, no bashing or degrading is allowed here.

No they yell that is where our Morkie end up because they are bad mixes or that is the only place you should get one from. They don't even take into consideration that some are rescues or that it was our choice to bring them into our families. When you go to a forum and the first post in the GD board is 12 pages of fighting it become a little ridiculous!

I looked for a very long time for a small Morkie like mix in the pound and you cannot find them anywhere. I drove 7 hours to pick up my Doodlebug because it was my choice to do this.

I just read an article about how hard it is to adopt at shelters and it was very true. My daughter who is 13 years old was not an acceptable age to adopt a small dog. They wouldn't even let up look at anything small. It was heartbreaking for me to watch her crying asking me why we couldn't look at a nice silkie. It was off limits to us because of her. How do you explain that to a child.

I really like eveyone here~I make a post and people reply in a nice caring manner. I think if I said I had a pet donkaroo with 2 heads and no tail you would think it was wonderful. :lol2:

I guess all of the drama is getting to me.

Momma always told me IF YOU DON'T HAVE SOMETHINGN NICE TO SAY SAY NOTHING AT ALL.
I'm all done venting! Thank you for listening. I have a feeling you might be seeing many more Morkies over here on MT where the waters are calmer and the people are much more mellow. ;)

I once saw a photo that an owner had sent me of her Morkie - I can't tell you how I fell in love with photo. He looked like he was wearing a tux. He was so handsome. Please don't let that forum bother you. You have given a little one a loving home and that's all that matters. I have been lucky to have owned and loved 2 Maltese's - each of them weighed from 10 to 12 pounds - all the more to love. Our current little guy weighs 11 pounds - he is a food monger - lol

Growing up in my family we had many mixed breeds - I called them the All American Breed. All were wonderful.

While I do not agree with creating a designer dog for the purpose of money I cannot fault the dog itself. Just breeders who should know better. All creatures should be loved no matter what their breeding is.

If you go on to your forum hold your head up high and show them how proud you are of your fur babies. Ignore any rude remarks, etc. I hope you will continue to post on the Maltese forum as well. There are a lot of wonderful people here.

Sad when the "pack" mentality is turned on someone for being different.

I got a nasty dose of that once on a forum. I figured out the people in that "pack" and then just never read anything they posted again.

It seems like so many online forget that on the other side of this text, there is a human, with feelings. This is not just "words" and sometimes when you turn your computer off, you walk away with the feelings.

Thankfully here, many know that and want you to walk away with good feelings or even fall over laughing. :wink5:

It is a shame, but it will go on. As long as the forum moderator is narrow minded and let's it happen.

Welcome to MalteseTalk, were fun is the rule.

enJOY!

Nah, I am currently owned by my Maltese Zoe (Zo zo) and our cockatoo Peanut (the chicken was the closest thing I could find). We will be getting Maltese #2 Abbie the beginning of October.
I really wish someone would add a cockatoo smilie.
