I decided to try to start training Smokey how to play nice with Mojo (the cat). At first Smokey was running all over him and nipping at his face and just being a DOG. Mojo was not happy at all. He ears were pinned back and he was swatting away. Chip was running in circles barking. It was a disaster. Soooo... I took the squirt bottle my cousin has for Mojo and would squirt Smokey when he got to rough. Smokey would instantly stop and then he'd look at me like "WHAT?!" After about an hour or so, they were playing together nicely or ignoring each other. Smokey and Mojo were even drinking out of the same water bowl at the same time! I think after they spend awhile together, they'll be okay.

Patience is the key there and you took your time to make sure they get along better. Good job mommy.

Sounds like the you found the "key" to getting Smokey's attention........best thing to do is "distract" them from the unwanted behavior and looks like the spray bottle is working. Time and Patience are the key. It's a big adjustment to both of them!!!

Does the spray bottle cause them to fear water?? I tried it on Lola when she was little and now she is afraid of any spraying water including the water hose and sprinkler.

I think it depends on the dog. He doesn't seem to be afraid of the water at all... BUT he was also raised (sort of) by our groomer so he probably got used to it while living with her. He did start behaving though as soon as he saw I had the spray bottle in my hands.

Well seeing that Lola is scared of everything, it could just be her.
