I finished the book I was reading last night (Dockside by Susan Wiggs) and enjoyed it so much that I had to go get another one today. I thought I'd seen her books at Walgreens. I've had Angel in Walgreen's before, so I knew there wouldn't be any hassles to take her in there, but I made sure she had her (service animal) ID on her collar.

Well, we went to Walgreen's, but they didn't have the book. Angel did so good, and I really wanted another book. So, I decided to venture into Wal Mart with Angel. I found a cart outside, put Angel's quilt in the bottom of the cart, put her in a "down/stay" and went into the store. I was about ready to breathe a sigh of relief for making it past the greeter without any questions, when the lady told me that I couldn't bring my pet into the store. I told her Angel was a service animal. She smiled and said, "Oh okay. Have a good day." So, Angel & I went and bought our book and came home. This is just too cool!

Great news. That's wonderful that Angel is such a good girl. She give service animals a good name.

I am glad you two had some fun shopping. I am still having a hard time finding places that I can take mine with me. The only place they go is to work, pet store and my moms.

I love taking my girls places. I don't think my LuLu could be a service animal. She is way too tiny, LOL. I mean, she couldn't help the blind or anything like that. :-)

That is awesome that she gets to go everywhere with you!

That is why I made the thread regarding service animals. (http://www.maltesetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5134) I think most people when they hear "service animal" do think of the german shephard/lab size dogs, but that isn't necessarily the case. Dogs don't have to be a certain size or breed to be able to be of service to their partner. Have you seen the bottles that nitro pills (for heart patients) are in? They are very tiny. Even the tiniest puppy could be trained to take that bottle to their person. That's just one example of how a little dog could assist their partner.

I wish Zo zo was a service dog. I do take her some places (hardware store, etc) and she loves it.

I'm going to teach Mia to bring me my meds. I don't know about her handling me a can of diet coke or assisting me up the stairs.:lol2::lol2::lol2:

Or keeping people away from you. There are just some things these little ones wouldn't be too effective with.

Teach them to dial 911; no one could expect to see that as proof! Ooooohhhhhh, I'm bad! (Where's that bag smilie????)

LOL. I'm thinking Jolie just might have a career as a search and rescue. Within the past few days she has found some b.c. pills, (NOT MINE)some anti diarrhea pills, a tampon, (again, not mine)and a tube of Blistex (once again... not mine.)12421 Mind you... NONE of the other dogs have been blessed with this "talent" of Jolie's. Thank goodness for that or I would be a complete basket case. (not just half a one:D)

My son and his gf stayed for the week last week... I just love to embarrass that poor girl. :lol2::lol2::lol2:

Lynn, thanks for that great info and I read that other thread you pointed me too. I bookmarked all those links. I have a friend whose landlord wants to evict her. She wants her dog to become a service dog because she is bipolar and has other illnesses. Her dog would be awesome as a service dog and he really really helps her. Her landlord said they didnt' care if he was a service dog, that she couldn't have him. I can't imagine that would be legal.

Good point..Abbie is well. She goes to the vet next Thursday for shots and a check up. I haven't seen her since the last time. I am thinking of going this weekend or next (maybe both).
